* In the 1990s sitcom Family Matters an episode that aired in 1994 claimed that main character Carl Winslow (Reginald VelJohnson) slept for 15 years and woke up in the year 2009 where main characters Steve Urkel (Jaleel White) and Laura Winslow (Kellie Shanygne Williams) were married with 3 children.
* In the Macross anime series (adapted outside Japan as the first part of Robotech), the alien Zentradi arrive at Earth on February 7, 2009 (February 9 in Robotech), triggering the devastating Space War I or First Robotech War.
* In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, the Plant chapter occurs on April 29 and April 30, 2009 causing devastation to New York City from its coast to Federal Hall when Arsenal Gear crash lands into it. This would lead up to the suspension America's international involvement (as mentioned in the recent Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer) especially after the death of the President of the United States.
