A1



A1 and A-1 are often used at the start of commercial business names so that they appear first in the telephone directory. For example, "A1 Cleaning Services" or "A1 Tool Hire". A1 means "very good" and is derived from the shipping insurers, Lloyds of London's description of a first class ship.

*a1 (band), a British boy band
*A1 (comic) is a British anthology comic
*A1 (milk), milk containing the A1 -casein protein
*A1 (rocket), a German rocket design from the 1930s
*A1 (shipping), a symbol indicating shipbuilding quality
*A1 (TV station) is a television channel in Macedonia
*A1 paper size, paper size as defined by ISO 216
*A1 Grand Prix series
*A1 Steak Sauce, a brand of condiment
*A1 broth, used to detect fecal coliforms
*A1 Mine Settlement, Victoria, a town in Victoria, Australia
* A1 Ring, the race track at which the Austrian Grand Prix was run from 1997 to 2003 (formerly called Österreichring)
* 0-2-2 (Whyte notation), as the equivalent UIC classification for railway locomotive wheel arrangements
* America One, a television network in the United States
* HMS A1, a British A class submarine of the Royal Navy
* the primary auditory cortex, that is, the part of the brain which processes hearing
* RTV Slovenia, the first programme of Radio Slovenia
* TCSEC, A security class
* In town and country planning in the UK, A1 is the code for permission to use specific land or premises for general retail.
* The first level avhieved in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages when learning a language
* LNER Class A1/A3,a locomotive designed by Sir Nigel Gresley,including the famous No 4472 "Flying Scotsman". Origianaly Class A1, later reclasified Class A3
* LNER Peppercorn Class A1 a Pacific locomotive designed by A. H. Peppercorn.

*A1 road (United Kingdom), a key artery connecting London to Edinburgh, and many towns and cities in between.
