A Woman Is a Woman

A Woman Is a Woman (original French title Une Femme est une femme) is a 1961 film directed by Jean-Luc Godard.

Featuring Anna Karina, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Jean-Claude Brialy, A Woman is a Woman is a playful tribute to American musical comedy. Described by Godard as his "first real movie," the film tells the story of exotic dancer Angéla (Anna Karina) as she attempts to have a child with her unwilling lover Émile (Jean-Claude Brialy). In the process, she finds herself torn between him and his best friend Alfred (Jean-Paul Belmondo).

The film is often cited as a part of the French New Wave.
