He is reliable, ferocious and brave, a loyal friend. Agumon's name is derived from the Japanese word agurabana, describing a large, flat nose. His character was voiced by Chika Sakamoto (Japan) and Tom Fahn (English). For Savers he is voiced by Matsuno Taiki (Japan). | Agumon's official art sheet. | Agumon is a short and stout orange dinosaur-like Digimon standing at about 2½ feet tall. Agumon's forearms are noticeably larger than his upper-arms, likley because they are entirely composed of his large, three-clawed hands (although artwork of him from the early video games had four claws per hand) . His large feet also sport three claws. Of all the Digimon Adventure rookies, Agumon is the only one to be usually drawn with distinct pecs. He has a short tail and a very large (compared to the size of his body) head and muzzle, with small nostrils on each side of it. Small earholes are visible on the sides of his head. His green eyes are very prominent.
His virus form is black-skinned, and is often referred to as BlackAgumon. In Digimon: Battle Spirit, there is an "Extra Agumon", which is simply a term for the unlockable Agumon that has Omnimon as a Digivolution. His and BlackAgumon's alternate color-schemes in this game include red-pink, blue, and green. The Agumon in Digimon Savers has a slightly different design, with more teeth, longer claws, wider forearms and red training bracers. His nostrils are also very different from Adventure's Agumon, being two large holes on the front of his muzzle. What's more, he is also much larger. The Agumon in Digimon Next simply has the red training braces.
Agumon, when modified by the X-Antibody, is bigger in size, has larger claws, and has blue markings. He also has Baby Burner, rather than Pepper Breath/Baby Flame as his standard attack.DigivolutionAgumon's normal Digivolution line, as seen in Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, goes: * Fresh (Baby I) - Botamon * In-Training (Baby II) - Koromon * Rookie (Child) - Agumon * Champion (Adult) - Greymon *Ultimate (Perfect) - MetalGreymon * Mega (Ultimate) - WarGreymon ** Mega (Ultimate)[Despite the existence of several ways to "evolve" beyond Mega level, the result is only a more powerful Mega-level Digimon, not a new level, however in the V-Tamer Manga, the first entry in the Digimon story, claims there is a "Super" level, beyond mega. ] - Omnimon (+ MetalGarurumon)
When Tai forced Greymon to evolve while exhibiting dark emotions, he Digivolved to SkullGreymon instead. In addition, Agumon also has the ability (at least for the second half of the first season and parts of the second) to evolve directly from his rookie to his mega form.
In Digimon Savers, Agumon's Digivolution line is: * Fresh (Baby I) - Botamon * In-Training (Baby II) - Koromon * Rookie (Child) - Agumon * Champion (Adult) - GeoGreymon * Ultimate (Perfect) - RiseGreymon * Mega (Ultimate) - ShineGreymon
In the TCG and V-Pets, Agumon may also evolve to any of Angemon, Birdramon, Boarmon, Flarerizamon, Garurumon, Growlmon, Ice Devimon, Kyuubimon, Leomon, Maildramon, Meramon, Numemon, Sepikmon, Stingmon, Togemon, Tyrannomon, Veedramon and ExVeemon. Also being of the Greymon-line, Agumon may have AncientGreymon as an alternate Mega form.
Teru Raku's Agumon (which posseses the X-Antibody) also gains the ability to become Omekamon in the D-Cyber manga, making that Digimon one of Agumon's canon Digivolutions.
In Digimon Battle Pets, Agumon's original Digivolution line was a little wider than the anime's lineup: * Fresh (Baby I) - Botamon * In-Training (Baby II) - Koromon * Rookie (Child) - Agumon, Betamon. * Champion (Adult) - Greymon, Tyrannomon, Meramon, Darkmon. *Ultimate (Perfect) - MetalGreymon, Mamemon.AttacksIn the Anime, the only attacks Agumon is ever shown to use are Pepper Breath (Pepper Flame in the US Digimon Movie and Baby Flame in Japan) and Baby Burner (in Digimon Savers). All other listed attacks are found in the video and card games.
*Pepper Breath/Pepper Flame (Baby Flame): Shoots an orange ball of flames of varying strength from his mouth. *Baby Burner: A more powerful stream of fire coming from his mouth. (As seen in Digimon Savers and Digimon Next). In Digimon Next, Agumon can only perform this attack with a boost of power from Tsurugi's DigiSoul.
His other attacks, which are shown in Digimon card games and other merchandise, are: *Claw Attack: (Sharp Claws) Swipes with his claws.[This attack is shown in Digimon Battle Spirit as one of Agumon's secondary attacks.] *Cross Fight: Rapidly bites his enemy while charging.[This particular attack is listed on numerous cards, and is supposedly seen in Digimon Rumble Arena; however, it is called Claw Attack in the US version - since it is nothing like Claw Attack, it can be assumed this is in fact Cross Fight.] *Dynamite Kick: Leaps into the air and rapidly kicks.[This is yet another attack from (and exclusive to) Digimon Battle Spirit.] *Moon Tracer *Concentration Resevoir["Moon Tracer" and "Concentration Resevoir" are generic attacks shared between multiple fighters in Battle Spirit.] *SpitfireDigimon AdventureSeveral years prior to the events in Digimon Adventure, a Botamon that appeared from the Kamiya's family computer evolved into an Agumon and, eventually, to Greymon in order to fight Parrotmon, as recounted in Digimon Adventure (The movie)
Koromon permanently Digivolved to Agumon to protect Tai from Kuwagamon. Later, he Digivolved to Greymon when a Shellmon attacked the DigiDestined. During an early battle with Etemon, Tai and Agumon, despite not having truly mastered the powers of Tai's Crest of Courage, attempted to Digivolve to Ultimate, but this ended up with him Digivolving to SkullGreymon and attacking the kids. Afterwards, both of them were too afraid of hurting their friends to attempt Digivolving again, until Piximon helped them get over their fears. At the end of the Etemon arc, Agumon was the first to Digivolve to the Ultimate Level, becoming MetalGreymon. When they attacked Etemon, he and Tai were sucked through a rift into the Real World. After a visit of a couple of hours, during which they met up with Kari and battled some semi-hallucinatory Digimon, they returned to the Digital World, where months had apparently passed. | Agumon and Tai during episode 36 (City under Siege) of Season 1 | After gathering the other DigiDestined and returning to the real world, Agumon Digivolved yet again to MetalGreymon to combat Myotismon but his attacks proved to be futile when the villain became VenomMyotismon. When Angemon and Angewomon shot their attacks at Tai and Matt, Agumon gained the power to Warp Digivolve to WarGreymon. Together with MetalGarurumon, they defeated VenomMyotismon. When the DigiDestined returned to the Digital World to combat the Dark Masters, Agumon managed to Digivolve once again into WarGreymon, fighting and destroying MetalSeadramon and Machinedramon. As WarGreymon, he had to fight MetalGarurumon after Matt and Tai got into a serious fight. Agumon also participated in the battles against the other Dark Masters, and was turned into a keychain by Piedmon before being restored by MagnaAngemon and facing off, alongside everyone, against Apocalymon.
According to a CD Drama, Agumon was able to talk with Tai for a short while in November of 1999, after a temporary connection opened on Tai's computer. In March of 2000, Agumon and Tai were reunited with Gabumon, Patamon, Tentomon, and Matt to face off against Infermon. Once there, all Digimon, even though both Gabumon and Agumon were in their Mega forms, were defeated by Diaboromon. Thanks to energy provided by thousands of cheering e-mails, the two Digimon DNA-Digivolved to Omnimon and defeated him. These events are recounted in the second digimon movie.
One year after their adventure, in May, Tai and Agumon were reunited, but only so that Tai could give up his Crest power to free the Digimon Sovereigns. As a result, Agumon lost the power to Digivolve to MetalGreymon and WarGreymon. Our War GameWhen Keramon had just started its problems, Tai wished Agumon was there, then he started to hear Agumon. At first he thought he was just hearing things, then Izzy finds a place on his computer where they could see Agumon jumping up and down calling "Tai, Tai!" He was with Gennai, and Tentomon, soon all the other Digimon appear as Gennai sends Agumon, and Tentomon onto the internet. Later they are seen racing down a tube, and onto the internet. They soon spot Keramon, but when they attack it barely effects it, so they Digivolve into Greymon, and Kabuterimon. Keramon then Digivolves into Infermon, badly hurting both Digimon, it being Ultimate level. Greymon and Kabuterimon attempt to Digivolve, but are knocked back to their Rookie level, injured. Later they are racing down that same tunnel, with Gabumon, and Patamon. When they get to the now Diaboromon, Agumon and Gabumon Warp Digivolve into WarGreymon, and MetalGarurumon, but Patamon, and Tentomon are knocked out before they could Digivolve. As WarGreymon, and MetalGarurumon slow down because of all the e-mails, Tai shakes the computer trying to get the e-mails to stop coming. Then the computer crashes and Izzy has to restart it. Once they get back on WarGreymon is very badly injured. He soon wakes up, and along with MetalGarurumon, goes after Diaboromon, who now has over a million clones. When they get there all of the Diaboromon fire at them, easily defeat them, but Matt, and Tai become digital, and come to their Digimon. Suddenly they come awake, and Digivolve together, to make, Omnimon. Easily defeating every single one of the Diaboromon.Digimon Adventure 02Two years later, when the Digimon Emperor began conquering the Digital World, Agumon sent a distress call to Tai, who traveled to the Digital World[It was never clear how Tai came to the Digital World, as the first generation Digivices lacked the ability to do so without an existing portal. Though the Digimon Adventure CD Drama provided a hint it may had been Tai's bonds to Agumon enable him to get into the Digital World], initiating the chain of events that would result in the activation of the Digimon Adventure 02 crew. Unfortunately, he was later kidnapped by the Digimon Emperor and made into his slave. When the Emperor tried to Digivolve him to MetalGreymon through the use of his Dark-D3, he caused Greymon to Digivolve once again to SkullGreymon, and lost control of the Ultimate-level Digimon. The Emperor, learning from this mistake, created the Dark Spiral — a modified version of the Dark Ring — and this time turned him into a viral version of MetalGreymon. Although he was freed by the DigiDestined, MetalGreymon's (specifically his hair), SkullGreymon's (his arm) and Greymon's data (his torso, neck, & head) were involved in the creation of the fearsome Kimeramon. He later, along with Tentomon and Gabumon, provided the 02 group with a distraction so that they could penetrate the Emperor's floating base. After BlackWarGreymon set off on his own, he and Agumon had a discussion about heart and friendship, although it was interrupted by the pain felt by BlackWarGreymon from attacks on one of the Destiny Stones.
Agumon eventually came to the Real World on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, where he helped to gather the Digimon who appeared world-wide along with the Control Spires. On this occasion he received a power boost from one of Azulongmon's DigiCores, restoring his ability to Digivolve to Ultimate. Along with Tai, T.K. and Patamon, he traveled to France to assist in rounding up the Digimon stranded there and, with MagnaAngemon, fought a group of them who had taken a French DigiDestined captive. The next day, during the battle against SkullSatamon of the Daemon Corps, the strain of being in the Real World got to Agumon, so he and the others had to return to their home dimension, but not before sacrificing the energy to go Ultimate in order to allow Imperialdramon to change into Fighter Mode. He came back the next day, with another power boost from Azulongmon allowing him to become WarGreymon again, in order to fight and defeat, but not destroy BlackWarGreymon, which he did with the help of Imperialdramon Fighter Mode. In the wake of the battle, the three de-Digivolved Rookies had a discussion with BlackWarGreymon about the meaning of his life. Agumon was seen again during the final battle against MaloMyotismon.
Three months later, Diaboromon resurfaced on the Internet, forcing Agumon, Gabumon and their partners to travel into the Internet once more. With help from Angemon and Angewomon, they destroyed the evil Digimon, but he merely split into thousands of Kuramon who entered the real world and transformed into Armageddemon, who defeated Omnimon. When the Mega de-Digivolved, the liberated energy allowed Imperialdramon to evolve into Imperialdramon Paladin Mode and defeat the Mega. These events form the plot of the second adventure 02 movie.Digimon Savers | Agumon in Digimon Savers. | Agumon is the Digimon partner of Masaru Daimon, the main character in the 5th Digimon anime series, Digimon Savers. He adores Masaru, becoming his partner after being defeated by the human in a fight while escaping from DATS during the experiments that altered his form. He follows and acts like Masaru, considering himself Masaru's "follower," and referring to him as his "aniki" - literally "big brother," but used with the same connotation as in the Yakuza, where it means "boss." During their fight with Kokatorimon, Agumon evolves into GeoGreymon by receiving Masaru's "DigiSoul".
The two got along in synch until after a fight against a Tortomon, when Masaru offended Agumon. Fortunately, the two got back together when a Garurumon was rampaging through the city after he defeated Sunflowmon and Gaogamon. Over time, during the events of the 13th episode, Agumon gained the power to assume his ultimate form, RiseGreymon. According to the Digivice iC, his Mega form is ShineGreymon.Digimon NextDuring a battle with Peckmon, Piximon de-Digivolved Tsurugi Tatsuno's Greymon into an Agumon. He becomes helpful for Tsurugi and later gains the ability to become GeoGreymon.D-CyberAgumon is Teru Raku's Digimon partner, and is sometimes played up for comic relief. When Guilmon "Dark-Digivolved" into Megidramon, he is looking at the toy Digimon, and is reminded of the episode when Tai Dark-Digivolved Agumon to SkullGreymon.
