Albert Warner
Albert Warner (
July 23,
1883 –
November 26,
1967) was one of the founders of
Warner Bros. Studios. The other Warner brothers were
Harry Warner (1881â€"1958),
Sam Warner (1887â€"1927), and
Jack L. Warner (1892-1978).
Born
Albert Eichelbaum in
Krasnosielc,
Mazovia,
Poland, he emigrated with his family to
Canada in the early 1890s. The family moved to
Ohio and as a young man, along with his two brothers, Albert Warner entered the
nickelodeon business in
Pennsylvania in 1903. Four years later they established a film distribution business and as soon as he was old enough, youngest brother Jack joined the business. In 1912 they began producing films and in 1918 expanded operations to
Hollywood, California where they set up a studio on
Sunset Boulevard. Sam and Jack moved to the West Coast to produce films while Albert and Harry remained on the
East Coast to handle distribution.
Albert Warner would serve as Treasurer of Warner Brothers Pictures until 1956 when he and Harry sold their interest in the business.
Albert Warner died in 1967 in
Miami Beach, Florida where he had been living in retirement.
