Alfonso Wong
Alfonso Wong, also known as 王澤, Wong Chak and Alphonso Wong, (originally named 王家禧) claims to be the creator of the popular
Hong Kong comic strip Old Master Q in
1962, using his eldest son's name "
Wong Chak" as a pen-name.
Old Master Q has since been made into many movies, animated films, short animated films and other works of fiction.
Wong was born in
Tianjin,
China. He studied Western art at
Beijing Catholic University, and later resided permanently in
Hong Kong. He was responsible for drawings in bibles for a
French Catholic missionary there, and also the art editing in the
Hong Kong Catholic magazine
樂峰報.
He likes to fish and could draw with both hands. Wong has 6 sons, all of whom have his artistic genes.
Wong has now retired and moved to
America in the
1980's.
