Amol is a city in northern Iran, in the province of Mazandaran.Amol is an old city, with it's age dating back to the Amards. Amards were the people living in the area before Aryans. Some believe that the city's name is rooted in the same Amard word. Amol has aroud 200 thousand population and is located on Haraz river bank on 26°25′N 52°21′E. It is less than 20 km away south of Caspian sea and less that 10 km away north of Alborz mountains. It is 180 km through Haraz road to cut through Alborz and reach Amol from the Iranian capital, Tehran and Sari, the capital of Mazandaran is only 70 km east of Amol.

Some of the historical and touristic attractions of the city are: Emamzadeh Abdollah shrine, Davaazdah Cheshmeh bridge, Mashhad Mir Bozorg shrine, Emamzadeh Ebrahim and Emamzade Ghassem, Mir Heydar Amoli mauseleum, Malek Bahman castle and Shahandasht waterfall in Shahandasht, Ab Ask and Abgarm Larijan hot springs, Lar tulip valley, and mount Damavand, the highest point in the Middle East.

Many of the Amoli people have their own summer houses in the mountaneous southern part of the greater Amol: Larijan. Some of the villages in Larijan include: Ab Ask, Abgarm, Amiri, Baijan, Chelav, Era, Gazaneh, Lasem, Namarestagh, Nava, Niak, Polour, Rineh, and Shahandasht. Ultra Quality Rice and Fresh Fruits are major products of Amol Farmers. There are also many big factories in Amol including the big dairy company Kaleh, Faravardeha-ye Gooshti-ye Amol meat products, and Zarbal poultry producers.Amoli Poeple Speak Mazandarani language.

The neighbouring cities are Babol in the east, Mahmoud Abad in the north, Chamestan in the west in Mazandaran province and Tehran province in the south.
