Andrew Evans (born June
1935), is an
Australia politician and
Assemblies of God pastor. The founder of the
Family First Party, he was elected to the
South Australian
Legislative Council on
9 February 2002.
For 30 years, Pastor Evans served as Senior Minister of Paradise Assembly of God in
Adelaide, now known as
Paradise Community Church. He was National Superintendent of the Australian Assemblies of God for 20 years
1977 to
1997, when he was succeeded by Pastor
Brian Houston,
Hillsong Church, who changed the title to National President. From 1958 - 1960 Andrew Evans studied for the Christian Ministry at the Assemblies of God Commonwealth Bible College - Brisbane. Now known as
Southern Cross College - Chester Hill, Sydney. He Graduated with a Diploma in Theology, December 1960. He was Ordained to the Ministry in 1963.
He served as a credentialed missionary with
Assemblies of God World Missions in the
East Sepik province of
Papua New Guinea from 1963 to 1969.
He received a Doctor of Divinity from the Californian Graduate School of Theology on 5 August 1981. He was also awarded a Doctor of Ministries on 20 September 1994 from the School of Theology in California.
He is an Executive member of Church Growth International based in
Seoul, South Korea Dr.
David Yonggi Cho,
Yoido Full Gospel Church.
He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal
OAM for his service to the Christian Church 26 January 2003.
