Ann Macbeth
Ann Macbeth (
1875–
1948), born in
Little Bolton,
Lancashire,
England, was a famous
embroideress and
author, a part of the
Glasgow Movement, and an associate of
Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Macbeth studied at the
Glasgow School of Art, and became head of its
embroidery department.She published five
books on embroidery, including
Needleweaving, published in
1922.
From
1921 to
1948 she lived in
Patterdale,
Cumbria. St. Patrick's Church in Patterdale houses some of her
embroideries.
