Arthur Ellis (referee)

Arthur Edward Ellis (born July 8, 1914, died May 23 1999) was an English football referee.

Ellis was a referee in the English Football Association competitions and in FIFA international competitions. He refereed at both the 1950 and 1954 FIFA World Cup finals. He is most remembered for refereeing the 1954 Battle of Berne.

Ellis was also well known in the UK for acting as a referee in the gameshow It's a Knockout.
