Ayyanthole
Ayyanthole is a very important area of
Thrissur City in
Kerala state,
South India. It is about 3 km away from
Swaraj Round. Ayyanthole is the seat of
Thrissur District Collectorate which houses the
District Court, Treasury and other Government offices. The central point of Ayyanthole is Ayyanthole ground (also known as Karshaka Nagar) where most of the buses to Ayyanthole from other parts of Thrissur City terminate. Ayyanthole ground is about 0.5 km away from the
District Collectorate.
Ayyanthole has a famous
Karthyayani temple which is about 0.5 km from the
Ayyanthole ground. It is believed that the idol there is the daughter of
Nanda and
Yasoda who slipped away from
Kamsa before being killed. The
Karthika Vilakku festival celebrated in this temple annually draws crowds from all over Ayyanthole and its nearby areas. Ayyanthole is also one of the
temples participating in the famous
Thrissur Pooram festival, which has an important place in the
Tourism calendar of Kerala. Ayyanthole also houses the
Government Law College, a
Vocational Higher Secondary School, a
Government High School,
Nirmala Convent Upper Primary School and
Mata Amritanandamayi Ashram & School. The
Appan Thampuran Memorial Library is one of the best libraries in Thrissur region.

The nearest railway station to Ayyanthole is in Thrissur which is about 2.5 km away. Hire a three wheeler, buses are difficult to access from railway station. The starting point for buses from center part of city to Ayyanthole is

There are no large restaurants in Ayyanthole. However, it is worth having a try at
