Bayerisch Eisenstein
Bayerisch Eisenstein a
German village in
Bavaria of about 1400 inhabitants.
Bayerisch Eisenstein is part of
Bayerischer Wald and near to the first German
national park established in
1970.
It is one of a trio of connected places in the area. The other two,
Železná Ruda (Boehmisch Eisenstein in
Czech Republic), lies 2 kilometres further northeast. The third is Markt Eisenstein (Spicak in Czech Republic. The town's
railway station is split by the border.
Today, trains run to both halves of the station from the relative countries. From May 2006, the local German train service, the Waldbahn, is due to start running across the border to Spicak in Czech Republic.
Bayerisch Eisenstein lies on the road from Deggendorf to
Pilsen.
