Biolizard

Biolizard, as seen in Sonic X.

The Biolizard is a formidable enemy from the Sonic the Hedgehog fictional universe, whose first appearance was in Sonic Adventure 2. He is battled by Shadow the Hedgehog, during which the song "Supporting Me" is sung by Everett Bradley.

History

Sonic Adventure 2

The Biolizard was an early version of Project Shadow, a government project run by Professor Gerald Robotnik that was intended to create an "Ultimate Life-form" as a first step towards humanity discovering the secret of immortality. Due to the experiments, it later needed a life support system. The Biolizard was a prototype of this "Ultimate Lifeform" before it was closed down when Gerald, with the aid of the alien Black Doom, produced a more advanced being: Shadow the Hedgehog.

When the Guardian Unit of Nations came to space colony ARK in order to put a stop to Gerald Robotniks plans, they found the Biolizard and shut it down. It didn't go without a fight however and it destroyed almost the entire group of GUN soldiers.

The Biolizard remained in suspended animation aboard the ARK until Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends came there. After Doctor Eggman successfully achieved the seventh Chaos Emerald and put it into the Eclipse Cannon, a video of Professor Robotnik was shown on all televisions and an audio version on the radio warning people of the Biolizard and how when the seven Chaos Emeralds came to the ARK, the ARK would plunge into the Earth's atmosphere. As the seven Chaos Emeralds were in place the ARK began to fall. Sonic and Eggman joined forces and tried to pull the ARK into orbit again by using Knuckles's Master Emerald to deactivate the Chaos Emeralds.

However, when Sonic and Knuckles entered the cannon's core, the Biolizard was awoken, determined to keep the ARK on its path to Earth. Later, Amy Rose convinced Shadow to help save the Earth, and Shadow fought and won against the giant reptile. The Biolizard then used Chaos Control and fused with the space station itself, becoming the Finalhazard (another of the final boss monsters of the Sonic series). It was destroyed by the combined power of Super Sonic and Super Shadow.

In the game, Shadow defeats the Biolizard by grinding up the green tube connecting the Biolizard's head to the life support system, and then either using a homing attack on the life-support system, or landing on it an using a somersault. Eventually, Shadow will have to use his homing attack on the Biolizard's pink "egg" spawn to reach the life support system instead. Finally, Shadow will be lifted into the air, and must maneuver through the eggs to get to the life-support system and defeat the Biolizard.

Sonic and Shadow defeat the Finalhazard by flying past his lasers and "egg" spawn, and then charging into its large, red boil. If either Sonic or Shadow take too long doing this, they will run out of rings and die; however, by flying across the Finalhazard on to the other character's side, the two hedgehogs can switch prematurely if necessary.

Shadow the Hedgehog

Biolizard was never mentioned in Shadow the Hedgehog, (except in the flashback when Shadow realized he died on the ARK) raising questions as to how it fit in with Shadow, Gerald, and Black Doom. Since the Biolizard is known as Shadow's prototype, along with similarities to Black Doom and Shadow such as the Chaos Control ability and somewhat similar attacks, as well as a cry identical to that of Devil Doom, it is possible that the Biolizard was also created with Black Doom's DNA but then got encapsulated when it was not as promising to the aliens' final plans as Shadow. The other, more likely possibility is that the Biolizard was simply an example of Gerald's work before Black Doom assisted him, and thus is of little interest to the Black Arms and wasn't stable because he didn't use Black Doom's DNA.
