Carfin
Carfin is a small town to the north-east of
Motherwell,
Scotland on the road to
Newarthill.
The closest High school is
Brannock High.
The cuisine in Carfin is similar to that of the average Scottish town, the Curry Kings/Wok Express duo supplying food from the East, with Marinis serving up traditional chip shop food such as chips, fish, fritters and various kinds of
pizza.
The community centre provides ample awning space for local youths to take shelter from the rain. There are many places of worship in Carfin. Clyde Valley Community Church (CVCC), a new and friendly community based church, currently meets in the town's community centre and hopes to build a complex in the Ravenscraig development in the future.
Carfin Grotto is a famous pilgrimage place, with extensive gardens and a visitors centre/cafe. A church hall is also present (holds keep-fit classes on Wednesdays), and a small mosque for Muslims.
The outskirts of Carfin do offer some interest, with a private golf club/rugby fields/driving range complex situated in the 'Dalziel Park' estate, which is situated directly next to the
BOC gas plant.
The ´flats´ are a site to be seen with the like of Írish Jamsey who is a legend in his own rite.Aiden Mennie recently went missing but was found by the way.
Carfin train station provides the hub for transport to
Glasgow, with the local bus stops providing easy access to
Motherwell and surrounding towns. These services cease to operate on Sundays, isolating the town and forcing the inhabitants to survive on nothing but sandwiches.
The climate is temperate, agreeing with the temperate climate of northern Britain. Not much farming is done in Carfin, though the outskirts do see some fields, occasionally containing cows and/or sheep. It is made hottter by the prescence of Paul Queen (Queeny, known by the locals).
