CBeebies is a
British television channel produced by the
BBC and aimed at children under 6. Launched on
11 February 2002 it broadcasts from 0600 to 1900 on
Freeview (where it shares
bandwidth with
BBC Four, broadcast after 1900),
cable and digital
satellite. The
CBBC Channel is its sister channel for older children.
The schedule on
CBeebies is the same every weekday, with a different schedule (often with different programs) at the weekends. Between 3pm and 6pm on Weekends, all programs are
signed. The schedules change each month and last for the entire month.
Michael Carrington is the current
Creative Director for CBeebies and is editorially responsible for all programming on the channel. [

bedtime hour to help prepare children for bed. The programs are calm, often involving stories, such as
64 Zoo Lane,
Step Inside,
The Story Makers and
The Roly Mo Show. It also features a celebrity reading a bedtime story at the end.
In early
2006, the bedtime hour opened with the five presenters singing the "'Bye 'bye Sun, Hello Moon" lullaby, and closes with them singing "The Time Has Come to Say Goodnight" lullaby.Due to a change of presenters (see below), the recordings of these songs became out of date and since
April 2006 there is no song at the start of the bedtime hour and "The Time Has Come to Say Goodnight" lullaby is sung at 7pm by the current four presenters.
