United States. As of 2000, the population was 36,655. Its
county seat is
Coshocton6. Its
name comes from the
Delaware Indian language and has been translated as "union of waters" or "black bear crossing".

population density was 25/km² (65/mi²). There were 16,107 housing units at an average density of 11/km² (29/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 97.35%

married couples living together, 9.20% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.20% were non-families. 25.40% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.01.
In the county the population was spread out with 26.20% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 27.40% from 25 to 44, 24.00% from 45 to 64, and 14.70% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 95.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.70 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $34,701, and the median income for a family was $41,676. Males had a median income of $31,095 versus $21,276 for females. The
