Dalal Mughrabi

Dalal Mughrabi (ca. 1959 - March 11, 1978) was a Palestinian terrorist lionized by Palestinian nationalists.

On the morning of March 11, 1978, Mughrabi and her Fedayeen unit of eleven members, including one other woman, landed on an Israeli beach, killed an American nature photographer named Gail Rubin and hijacked a bus along the coastal highway. The Israeli army pursued the bus until it was finally stopped. After the ensuing gun battle, Mughrabi and her unit were all dead, as well as 36 Israelis. The attack became known as the Coastal Road Massacre and was the trigger for the Israeli Operation Litani against PLO bases in Lebanon three days later.

The Palestinian Authority named a Hebron girls' school in honor of Mughrabi. Her name has also been given to summer camps and both police and military courses.
