Darkley

Darkley is a small village in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, near Keady. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 282 people. It is situated within the Armagh City and District Council area.

The Troubles

On 20 November 1983, three church elders (David Wilson (44), Harold Brown (59) and Victor Cunningham (39)) who were attending Sunday worship in the Mountain Lodge Pentecostal Church outside Darkley were murdered by the 'Catholic Reaction Force' (CRF). Seven other people were injured in the attack. [The CRF was a covername used by the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).]
