Bono (Paul David Hewson) of the Rock band
U2, and
Bobby Shriver, along with activists from the
Jubilee 2000 Drop the Debt Campaign, as an organisation focused on Justice,
not charity. Some of DATA's goals are to eradicate poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa. DATA encourages Americans to contact senators and oither legislators and elected officials to voice their opinions.
DATADATA brings critical issues to the attention ofgovernment decision makers and the public. DATA's board, led bythe efforts ofco-founder Bono, provides exceptional access to decision makers in the capitals ofthe world's wealthiest and mostpowerful nations. DATA(through its advocacy arm) has helped move bipartisan efforts in the U.S. Congress and White House on debtcancellation, AIDS, trade, and poverty. In Europe, DATA has engaged heads ofstate to scale up effective assistance to promote better education, water, health and nutrition in poor countries.
