David Hodges
David Hodges is a
keyboardist and
vocalist. He is probably most well known as being a member of
Evanescence. However, after having left the band in
2002, he now fronts his own band,
Trading Yesterday. Their debut single
One Day hit the radio in the spring of
2005.
David Hodges left Evanescence after the
Christian Controversy. He decided to leave because he thought that he was leading the band into a more
Christian rock scene than
Ben Moody and
Amy Lee were comfortable with. Amy and Ben made it quite clear that they didn't want anything to do with the Christian rock scene. They did this by having Moody swear during an interview on TV. David Hodges departed by claiming he wanted to start a Christian rock band.
Hodges also worked with
Kelly Clarkson on her album
Breakaway (on the songs "
Because of You" and "Addicted"), and he was briefly romantically involved with the pop icon. Their relationship ended in late 2004 when he chose to return to (and subsequently marry) his ex-girlfriend, and the lyrics of Clarkson's super-smash hit single "
Behind These Hazel Eyes" are about him.
