David McLane

David B. McLane is a promoter who, through his David McLane Enterprises, Inc. started several moderately successful women's wrestling companies (now all defunct, except for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling which lives on as a Las Vegas floor show). Many of his promotions were based on decidedly tongue in cheek gimmicks or parodies.

McLane started a few nationally televised professional women's wrestling leagues Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (1986), Powerful Women of Wrestling (1987) and Women of Wrestling (2000). He starred in these shows as himself as host and announcer but portrayed as a more comical (and miserly) version of Vince McMahon in style. Where McMahon's shows featured expensive productions, McLane's leagues were less expensive to produce as they relied solely on women playing sexy character based wrestlers. Many of the wrestlers were simply actresses or porn stars hoping to get their foot in the door to the entertainment industry. For this reason most of the fights were heavily scripted and choreographed so they could be performed by people who were relatively untrained and inexperienced in wrestling without getting hurt.

Additionally he was instrumental in getting World Roller Hockey League (1992), Pro Beach Hockey (1997) and Triple Crown of Polo (2005) on ESPN.

McLane is graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Telecommunications and a BS in Business.
