Dinorwig

village located high above
Llyn Padarn, near
Llanberis, in
Wales.
It was a major supplier of workers to the local Dinorwig
slate quarry, and as a result, grew in size. However, with the close of the quarries in the first half of the 20th century, the village became home to people working in nearby
Bangor or
Caernarfon, the local economy suffered, and the schools, shops and businesses closed as people moved away.
Today, the village shares its name with a new
hydroelectric power station,
