Environmentalism

Environmentalism is a theory that views environment rather than heredity as the important factor in the development and especially the cultural and intellectual development of an individual or group.

Environmentalists, or members of the environmental movement advocate the preservation, restoration, or improvement of the natural environment; especially regarding the control of industrial and other pollution. Other issues of concern may also include species extinction and preservation of biodiversity, responsible waste management, recycling, the threat of global climate change, ozone depletion, and genetically engineered organisms.
* this movement is distinct from Environmental Justice

Environmental organizations

Environmental organizations can be global, regional, national or local; they can be government-run or private (NGO).
