Fatima Bhutto
Fatima Bhutto (born
29 May 1982) is a young
Pakistani poet who came to fame after the appearance of her first book, a collection of poems, titled
Whispers of the Desert. She was only 15 years old when the collection was published.
Bhutto is the daughter of the late
Murtaza Bhutto, who was killed in a controversial shoot-out by the Pakistani police in
1996 in
Karachi, during the premiership of his own sister,
Benazir Bhutto. Fatima Bhutto's book deals with this tragedy. She is the grand-daughter of former prime minister
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.Bhutto is presently a student at
Columbia University in the
United States, and also studied at the
Karachi American School. She is
Ghinwa Bhutto's step-daughter and step-sister of
Zulfiqar Bhutto*
