Freethinker

Clair is a village in Madawaska County in the province of New Brunswick. It is near the Maine border.

The community was named for County Clare in Ireland. Forestry is the basis of the local economy.

Bordering the majestic St. John River, the village is linked to the American community of Fort Kent, Maine, by an international Clair, New Brunswick - Fort Kent, Maine Bridge.

2001 census data show the village to have a population of 863. The neighbouring communities are Lac Baker, Baker Brook, New Brunswick and Saint-François.

The local Catholic church, houses noted religious artwork, including stained-glass windows from the workshop of Belgian artist José Gaterrath and the Stations of the Cross by the famous Spanish ceramist Jordi Bonet.

Centre d'Apprentissage du Haut Masawaska, is the secondary school in Clair.
