Glazing

Glazing, in architecture, is a transparent part of a wall, usually made of glass or plastic (acrylic and polycarbonate). Glazing also describes the work done by a professional "glazier".

Common types of glazing used in architectural applications include float glass, tempered glass and Starphire®, a brand name for clear "white" glass produced with low-iron content (other types of glass have a slight green tint).

Glazing is mounted on a sash or window frame. Frames are usually made of wood, aluminium or PVC. The glass or plastic is attached to a rabbet in the frame in a number of ways including triangular glazing points, putty, etc.
