Jamie Durie

Jamie Durie is the host of Australian television lifestyle show Backyard Blitz. As of July 2006, he is also co-hosting Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice.

He also hosted the Australian version of The Block an Renovation Rescue, all shows by the Nine Network.

Jamie Durie is also the ambassador for Plan (aid organisation) Australia. A television special was screened with Durie in this role as he visited families in Uganda affected by HIV.

Prior to his television presenting career, Durie was a member of Manpower Australia, a highly popular touring male striptease act similar to the Chippendales. In 1994 he posed nude for the art magazine Black+White alongside fomer fiancee Terasa Livingstone. On a special presentation for Cirque de Soleil's Australian tour of Alegría for the Nine Network, he revealed that he previouly auditioned for the troupe but did not get in.

On 5 May 2005, Durie was charged with negligent driving and not giving particulars to another driver after an incident in central Sydney. The police alleged Durie's car hit a car driven by Karen Heath about 7.30am that day and that he failed to give Ms Heath the personal details she needed to contact him about damage to her vehicle. Police eventually withdrew the charges without explanation.
