Jeremy Wariner

Jeremy Wariner (born January 31, 1984 in Irving, Texas) is an American track athlete. Height: 1.83m (approx. 6')

He won the gold medal in 400 meters the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, heading an clean sweep. The USA also won the gold medal in the 4x400m with Jeremy Wariner running the third leg. He is known for wearing sunglasses for all of his races, regardless if it is sunny or not.

He is the first white man to win gold at 400m since Viktor Markin in 1980, and the first white American man to win a medal of any kind in the sprints (400m and under) since Michael Larrabee won the 400 in 1964. However, Wariner doesn't see himself as representing a particular group or race, but rather views it as the culmination of individual hardwork and great coaching.

Wariner also won the 400m at the 2005 United States Track and Field Championships with a time of 44.20. At the World Championships in Helsinki he won the 400m in 43.93, and later anchored the American team in the 1600m relay for the gold medal.

Wariner currently attends Baylor University (though he is not a Baylor athlete) and is coached by Clyde Hart, who was also the coach of Baylor alum and two-time Olympic 400m gold medal winner Michael Johnson.

He holds a personal record of 43.62 seconds, which he achieved at the 2006 Golden Gala Meet in Rome.
