John Oliver (comedian)

John Oliver is a British comedian with a love of satire, dextrous wordplay, and penguins. He can also impersonate croissant and is partly responsible for the concept of British hammer time.

His BBC radio credits include The Department with Chris Addison and Andy Zaltzman, Political Animal and Fighting Talk.

He is an ex-member of the Cambridge Footlights.

On July 31st, 2006, Oliver featured on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart as the show's "European Courrespondouent". He reappeared on the show on August 10th, 2006 as the show's Senior Carryonologist, reporting on the 2006 transatlantic aircraft plot. In the August 10th episode, he mocked the ban on liquids, wondering if yogurt applied, and mentioning that the human body is mostly liquid, and that sting operations should evaporate the threat. He also claimed that, since the terrorists were British citizens, and Democracy is the only antidote to terror, Britain must not be a Democracy. The only solution; A regime change in Britain. This prompted John Stewart to laugh off-screen, and his next line was delivered only after a pause.
