Kotychio, is a lagoon in the northwestern part of the
prefecture of Ilia. It forms the municipal boundaries of
Lechaina and
Vouprasias. It is located 6 km from
GR-9/
E55, 61 km SW of
Patras, 48 km NW of
Pyrgos and about 22 km (old: 24 km) from
Kyllini. The lagoon is connected with the
Ionian Sea. It is a proceted area. The lagoon is an oval-shaped. Farmlands are to the southeast while grasslands are in the southwest and northeast. It is located next to the

The area has birds and Kotychi is one of the most important areas for birds in Greece. Kotychi is one of the largest and the most significant lagoons in the Peloponnese. Illegal waste was common. It is home to the
crayfish species.
