Kristopher Schau
Kristopher Hugh Martin Schau (b.
August 12 1970 in
Oslo) is a
Norwegian musician,
TV host,
comedian and
song writer.
He is most famous for the radio shows (most of them also with his brother Alexander Schau)
XL,
Karate, and
Et Norge I Krig, and the local-radio program
Kvegpels, and the
TV-series Team Antonsen and
XLTV. He has also been part of several bands, among them
Gartnerlosjen,
Hurra Torpedo,
Kåper Gjete,
Sinsen,
Reidar Roses Orkester,
Datsun, and
The Cumshots. He is also the writer of the
Norwegian underground comic Margarin (now discontinued).
One of his many project had him living in a Datsun automobile for a whole week. This event was also televised in daily segments.
Another of his projects was
"Forfall" (
en.
decline), where Schau devoted an entire week to living as unhealthy as possible. Originally the idea was to decline both physically and mentally, but despite the initial intentions in the mental area (reading books by Norwegian pulp fiction authors), the project mainly circulated around eathing unhealthy foods and smoking. He spent the entire week on display in an
Oslo shop window. The project was also shown on TV and the internet for the entire week. He gained about 10 kg (22 lbs) and his
cholesterol level skyrocketed during the project. He also nearly suffered a
heatstroke when the temperature in the shop window display was significantly increased. The heat experiment was then aborted.
He has been criticized by the media several times. On
January 24,
2004 he got the front-page headline in one of Norway's largest newspapers after he showed his
penis during an episode of Team Antonsen: he apparently tried to find out whether dogs could tell the difference between a sausage and the male sex organ (it did not). During the
Quartfestival summer 2004, a couple, who were both members of
Fuck For Forest, had
sex on stage during a Cumshots concert. This led to a
lawsuit against Schau, the other band members and the couple who performed the sex stunt. Schau and his bandmate
Ole Petter Andreassen were both fined 10 000 kroner (roughly US$ 1700) for their roles in the stunt.
In December
2003 Schau was voted Norway's Sexiest Man by the fashion magazine
ELLE.
In September
2004 he sold his
soul to
Thomas Numme and
Harald Rønneberg, hosts of the Norwegian TV show
Senkveld (
en.
Late Night), for 18.500 NOK.
He has also been one of the voice talents for the Norwegian/English movie "Slipp Jimmy Fri" (http://www.snurrfilm.no/movie.asp?fkMID=3026).
