Linda Riordan

Linda Riordan (b. 31 May 1953) is a British Labour and Co-operative politician. She was elected Member of Parliament for Halifax at the 2005 general election.

Riordan was born in Halifax and graduated from Bradford University. She is married.

Riordan has served as a Calderdale councillor for nine years. She worked as private secretary for the previous Halifax MP Alice Mahon, and was active in the local Co-operative Party as secretary and treasurer. She was nominated as candidate by the Co-op Party but her candidature was at first opposed by the national Labour Party. She was later allowed to stand. She is a member of the leftwing Socialist Campaign Group.
