List of Final Fight characters
This is a list of characters from the original
Final Fight. This list covers the original game and the sequels,
Final Fight 2,
Final Fight 3 and
Final Fight: Streetwise. Included in this list are enemy characters from each game. While characters such as Andore and Rolento have appeared in sequels and spinoffs of the game, for all intents and purposes their major role were in their first appearances.
Haggar
Cody
Guy
Maki
Carlos
Lucia
Dean
Kyle
Jessica
Jessica is the first game's
damsel in distress. She is Haggar's daughter and formally Cody's girlfriend. She has long blonde hair and usually wears a red
cocktail dress. She is carried off by Damnd in the beginning and taken to Mad Gear's hideout. She is held tightly by Belger in his lap, but escapes after his wheelchair is broken. Ultimately, she is saved by Haggar and the rest in the game's ending.
After
Final Fight, Jessica only made cameo appearances in other games, such as stepping into the ring to celebrate her father's victories in the
Slam Masters series (which is chronologically set before
Final Fight). Her disappearance in the beginning of
Final Fight Revenge plays a central role in that game's storyline, but is never resolved in any of the characters' endings, although she is shown to be okay in
Final Fight 3.
Genryusai
Genryusai (源柳斎) is Guy's master and the father of Maki and Rena. He is taken captive by Retu and the revived Mad Gear during the events of
Final Fight 2. Note that in the later
Street Fighter Alpha series, it is established that instead of Genryusai, a man named Zeku is the 38th Bushin-style master and Guy's master. As such, it is assumed that Genryusai was Zeku's teacher instead.
In the
Capcom vs. SNK series, it's indicated he has finally passed away.
Rena
Rena (麗奈) is Guy's fiancée and Genryusai's older daughter. Like Genryusai, she is taken captive by Retu during the events of
Final Fight 2. By the time of
Final Fight: Streetwise, Rena has since married Guy.
Vanessa
Vanessa Sims is the girlfriend of Kyle Travers and owner and bartender of the "Barfly" lounge in
Final Fight: Streetwise. When Kyle's brother, Cody is taken captive by the Stiff in her bar, Vanessa does her best to provide information and ideas to Kyle to find Cody. She also has her brother on the MCPD in aiding Kyle in his search.
During the Glow induced riots on Metro City, Kyle and former Mad Gear member 2-ill saved her life. Kyle eventually saved Cody and the city, but the end result cost her bar in the riots and the life of her brother in the final battles. While Vanessa tends to Kyle and Cody in the hospital, she keeps her brother's badge to remind her of him.
Sgt. Sims
Sergeant Sims is a
deep cover cop for the MCPD (Metro City Police Department) in
Final Fight: Streetwise. By the request of his sister, Vanessa, Sims assisted her boyfriend, Kyle into looking for his missing brother, Cody. He wanted Kyle not to get not to be involved due to the danger Cody was in. Sims also sought to arrest Cody for using Glow, a highly addictive drug that increases the physical attributes of the user.
When Sims traced the source of the Glow to a church in Little Italy during the city riots, Sims along with Kyle and whatever officers he had left attempted to storm the church. Unfortunately Sims lost all his men after Father Belger, the mastermind behind the Glow, threw grenades at them while simultaneously a small army of Glowheads attacked them. Only Sims and Kyle were left as they went inside the church. Fr. Belger sent out his two of his four horsemen to take care of them.
Kyle defeated the horseman, War but was only seconds too late to save Sims who had his head decapitated by Famine.
Vito
Vito Bracca is the
boss of a gang in Little Italy during
Final Fight: Streetwise. Cody Travers would participate in pit-fights under his restaurant, until he found out that Cody was using the drug Glow. He let Cody go as some start to blame him for the appearance of Glow in the city. He consults, Father Bella for advice on what to do.
Around this time Kyle comes looking for his brother, Cody and starts to interrogate Vito. His lack of respect towards Vito caused Vito to have his hitman, Blades to throw him out on the street. Kyle returns sometime later, with advice from Haggar, showing Vito respect. Kyle competed in pit-fights for Vito for free, in exchange for info on Cody. Kyle wins these fights and gets the info he seeks and he lets Kyle keep his winnings as well.
After an attack on Japantown, Vito sees Father Bella asking for guidance about the Glow dilemma. Unaware of Bella's true intentions, Vito begins to pray at his suggestion. While doing so, Vito is killed after Blades impales him in the back of the skull on Bella's silent order.
Dr. Chang
Dr. Chang is a scientist in
Final Fight: Streetwise. She is responsible for the creation of the drug, GlycoLauric Octanol (Glow). Being forced to create the drug by Father Bella/Belger, Kyle finds her and tries to force her to help Cody, who became a Glowhead. Dr. Chang, at the time was injecting Glow into the Stiff, an enemy, Kyle faced and thought killed earlier. Chang runs off as a Glow induced Stiff and Kyle battle. As Kyle once again defeats the Stiff, Chang treated Kyle's injuries where they were met up with Guy and Haggar. She told him once the drug ran it's course than Cody would be cured. When the city riots started, Dr. Chang told them she needed to help the people in trouble and left.
She untimely ended up again forcefully working for Fr. Bella creating his "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" injecting them with massive amounts of Glow. Kyle would battle and defeat two of the horsemen, War and Famine before entering the church sanctuary where Dr. Chang griped how she could have done "better things" if Bella didn't screw it up for her. She sees one positive of it all, that of the grotesque monstrosity, Pestilence. She's very close to it calling it "Sweetie". When Kyle threatens her, she commands Pestilence to eat him and the beast attacks.
Kyle defeats Pestilence but Dr. Chang had escaped sometime during the fight. While Kyle and Cody recuperated in the hospital from their ordeal, Kyle finds out on the news that Dr. Chang was taken in for questioning but was released.
Madame Celeste
Madame Celeste is a fortune teller in Kyle's neighborhood in
Final Fight: Streetwise. Vanessa sends Kyle to her psychic parlor to get information on Cody's whereabouts. She asks him to play a magic card matching game before she tells him the future. Once Kyle's successful Madame Celeste tells Kyle some information and gives him Cody's house key. It is insinuated that she and Cody had been intimate. Afterwards, she appears in various parts of the city with Kyle having the option to play the matching game again in which she'll allude to what Kyle will have to deal with in the near future.
Paco
Paco is a tattoo artist in Kyle's neighborhood in
Final Fight: Streetwise. He lives in the same building as Kyle and is trained as a boxer. If paid $100, he'll help Kyle save 2-ill at the beginning of the game. He also helps Kyle by telling him about Lou "The Skin" designing the tattoo on the mysterious person in Cody's picture. He also may or may not be the trainer in Tiger's gym, since they look very similar.
Regular Enemies
*Height: 178 cm (5 ft 10 in)
*Weight: 70 kg (154 lb)
Bred along with
Dug,
Jake and
Simons are the game's most common, basic enemies. They possess punch and kick attacks, but are very predictable and are very slow. Simons can do a flying kick in the
arcade version, but rarely uses it.
Bred has a well-meaning personality for a Mad Gear member and is considered to be a nice guy for them. He only joined the gang due to the fact that he considers himself "unlucky" and often got himself into various trivial problems. He is a car fanatic and spends time polishing his ride (which ends up being demolished by Haggar and co. in one of the game's bonus rounds).
Bred wears grey clothes, Dug wears red-orange, Jake wears blue, and Simons wears gold.
Vested Enemies
* Height: 181 cm (5' 11 1/4")
* Weight: 78 kg (172 lb)
J and
Two P. only use punch attacks, but are very quick and well-controlled by the computer, as they usually strike from behind. They usually fight as part of a mob of Mad Gear members. J has an autistic personality and nobody knows what he's thinking about. Two P. would later appear in
Final Fight: Streetwise, reformed and going by the name "2-ill". He hates to being referred to as Two P. because he considers his days as Mad Gear gangbanger to be long over.
J wears yellow and blue, and Two P. wears orange and green.
Cheap Enemies
* Height: 193 cm (6 ft 4 in)
* Weight: 90 kg (198 lb)
Axl and
Slash (named after
Axl and
Slash of
Guns N' Roses) are tall enemies that block opponent's attacks and wait to attack when their back is turned, generally with an axehandle similar to Haggar's and/or a roundhouse kick. Axl prefers riding
motorcycles, over eating and likes to join his biker buddies in
highway races.
Axl wears gray uniform, Slash wears brown.
Knife Enemies
* Height: 202 cm (6 ft 4 in)
* Weight: 85 kg (187 lb))
Holly Wood, along with
El Gado, are knife-wielding enemies that wear military camouflage outfits with ski caps. They are known for their agile movement which they forged by dancing. Holly Wood got his name due to the fact that he is always seen singing and dancing. Their special technique is the "Jumping Knife Attack".
El Gado and Holly Wood are the primary footsoldiers of
Rolento Schugerg's "army" in the Mad Gear gang, as both were trained by Rolento himself.
El Gado has a prominent role as a playable character in
Final Fight Revenge, in which it is revealed that he infiltrated Mad Gear to get revenge on Rolento, who was responsible for the deaths of his family. The two also appeared in the
Street Fighter Alpha games as part of Rolento's special techniques and win poses.
Holly Wood wears orange, El Gado wears yellow. There also versions of Holly Wood dressed in red that attack by throwing
molotov cocktails.
Fat Enemies
* Height: 195 cm (6 ft 0 in)
* Weight: 212 kg (466 lb)
Bill Bull,
G. Oriber and
Wong Who are the second strongest underlings characters in the game. While slow, they become quite fast during their charging headbutt attack. Bill Bull follows an original
cocktail diet after being warned by his friends about his weight.
Bill Bull wears gray pants, G. Oriber wears blue pants, and Wong Who wears green pants.
"Female" Enemies
* height: 175 cm (5 ft 9 in)
* Weight: 52 kg (114 lb)
Poison (along with her palette-swapped double
Roxy) is a member of Mad Gear that wear revealing tank tops and shorts with berets. Poison gets into street fights in order to maintain her figure. They attack with their long legs and
acrobatic techniques.
Poison is one of the most
controversial characters, as the backstory in the original Japanese versions of the game series described her as a
newhalf, although the early English releases make no mention of this and refer to both Poison and Roxy as women. Whether this is merely a reflection of different views towards the gender status of transsexuals, or whether Capcom has chosen to remove this portion of the characters' backstories is unclear. Reportedly, Capcom USA was unaware of Poison's identity, and felt that having women as opponents was inappropriate, replacing the pair with two mundane-looking punks named
Billy and
Sid for the
English SNES and GBA versions of the game. English language sequels including the
American-developed
Final Fight Revenge would follow the same model as later Japanese games, explicitly avoiding referring to the characters as anything other than female.
In
Capcom Classics Collection, it is stated that Poison is a transvestite, while Roxy is a female who looks up to Poison, however, this is actually a mistranslation, as the
Super Famicom version's manual for
Final Fight that both character are males and that the only reason why Roxy is a transvestite is because of his admiration to Poison. Poison has a crush on
Cody, as evidenced in
Final Fight Revenge and
Street Fighter Alpha 2. Poison is one of the prominent Mad Gear member in the series-she appeared as a playable character in
Final Fight Revenge where she framed Cody for her many crimes, and also going legitimate as
Hugo's manager in the
Street Fighter III series. While his/her sexuality is unclear at this point, it is assumed that Poison is now officially a female as the second-player version of Hugo has a palette-swapped Roxy as his manager; moreover, Hugo makes several comments insinuating that he and Poison/Roxy are in a relationship.
Roxy has orange hair, Poison has pink hair.
Andore
* Height: 229 cm (6 ft 9 in)
* Weight: 232 kg (510 lb)
The
Andore family are a family of pro wrestlers modeled after
André the Giant and are the strongest underlings in the game. They are essentially the same character, with each member wearing a different
leopard-skin outfit. The siblings
Andore (in lavender) and
Andore Jr. (in red) are the prominent members of the family, serving as regular underlings. Three additional relatives,
Grandfather Andore (in blue),
Uncle Andore (in dark-gray), and
Father Andore (in yellow) are sub-bosses in the "West Side" area of Metro City.
Andore Jr.'s bio states he practices many wrestling techniques with his brother and hopes to surpass him in fighting prowess. If Andore is Hugo (see below), then a bio for Hugo stated he moved to America and dragged his family along with him in hopes of becoming a star wrestler.
Andore is the only truly recurring enemy character in the series, in addition to appearing as a playable character in
Final Fight Revenge-he had become a pro wrestler by this point, but still wanting glory, attempted to become mayor of Metro City by challenging Haggar to a matchup, but his challenge was never aired. He and his family joined a subsequent Mad Gear and their successor the Skull Cross gang in
Final Fight 2 and
Final Fight 3 respectively, though Haggar again crushed their hopes with the gangs. The Andores' basic attacks are a charging clothesline and a tombstone piledriver.
Andore was also the basis of
Hugo from the
Street Fighter III series (and the two are evidently the same character, although it is not officially confirmed). In these games he has gone fully legitimate and achieved his dreams of being an extremely famous pro wrestler, though he attempts to find a tag-team partner in
Street Fighter III: Double Impact and attempts to take over pro wrestling with his own organization in
Street Fighter III: Third Strike. He seems to have gone back to underground wrestling for Vito Bracca in
Final Fight: Streetwise.
Damnd
* Height: 218 cm (7 ft 2 in)
* Weight 201 kg (442 lb)
Damnd (
Thrasher in early English-language home versions) is the first boss and the one who calls Haggar during the opening intro. He is a Caribbean thug. He serves as a snitch and informer for the Mad Gear gang, although he makes his own underlings do all the hard work and gather info for him. When he is outmatched in a fight, he summons his henchmen by whistling to do the fighting for him, while he sits around doing nothing, until he sees a perfect opportunity to strike. Haggar defeats him with a Pile Driver in the arcade version, as revenge for having been the actual Mad Gear member who took Jessica. In
Final Fight Revenge, he has attempted to become the leader of the gang to bring back the fun times, but failed in this objective and merely moved back to the
Caribbean, though his attempts to pick up ladies have now fallen flat.
Sodom
* Height: 190 cm (6 ft 3 in)
* Weight: 98 kg (216 lb)
Sodom (
Katana in early English-language home versions) is the second boss. He is an underground pro wrestling promoter, who helds his fights in a ring hidden within the sewers. Occasionally, he participates in these battles himself to earn his living. He is an American obsessed with
Japanese culture and his daily diet is comprised mainly of
sushi and
tempura. He loves to wear an armored
kabuto and wields two Japanese
katanas.
He was a playable character in
Final Fight Revenge where he rises above all other Mad Gear members to become the new Mad Gear leader. After this, Sodom makes an appearance in the
Street Fighter Alpha series starting with the very first game in the series as a playable fighter, although armed with
jitte instead of katana. He has an intense rivalry with Guy, who he believes ruined his life by defeating him in his own ring in the arcade version (although Guy hardly even remembers him). He failed in his attempts to re-establish the Mad Gear (and recruit
E. Honda into it) in
Street Fighter Alpha 2 and had a falling out with Rolento, though he would make up with him in
Street Fighter Alpha 3. See
Sodom (Final Fight) for a greater look at his role in those games.
Edi. E
* Height: 204 cm (6' 8 1/4")
* Weight: 145 kg (319 lb)
Edi. E is a corrupt police officer who serves as the boss of Metro City's West Side area. He was once an upstanding civil servant, until he was bribed by the Mad Gear gang and became a sort of bodyguard for them. He is armed with a revolver issued only to police officers, but only resorts to use it when physical brutality doesn't work for him. In such a case, he will shoot blindly with it, striking down any Mad Gear underlings who gets in his way.
He was a playable character in
Final Fight Revenge, where he arrested Cody for being a vigilante and for being framed by Poison's crimes. Edi. E then makes a cameo appearance in
Street Fighter Alpha 3, where he chases Cody (a fugitive in that game) after Cody wins a match-although it becomes painfully apparent he failed to recapture him. This plays off of the fact that Cody defeated him in the original arcade version, setting up a vendetta between the two.
The unusually placed period is not a typo; that is his official name.
In Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed for the Playstation Portable, Edi.E is referred to as Eddie E. in the in-game documentation. Collecting his spit-out gum during his boss fight in Final Fight yields bonus features.
Rolento
* Height: 182 cm (5' 11 1/2")
* Weight: 80 kg (176 lb)
Rolento is the fourth boss. He was once a member of the Red Berets, but became one of the leading members of Mad Gear in their secret maneuvers. He is put in charge of Mad Gear's drug manufacturing plant located in Metro City's Industrial Area, where he has great influence. He has a variety of techniques such as a throw and a triangular kick, and specializes in
bojutsu. He also throws hand grenades at his opponents, especially when his energy bar becomes yellow.
Along with Sodom, canon holds that he was defeated by Guy in the original arcade version, setting the relationship triangle between those three characters for years to come. In fact, Rolento is one of the most prominent characters in Final Fight as measured by crossover to other games, despite his initial absence in the SNES version of the original game. To compensate for his omission in the original console version, he was included in the sequel
Final Fight 2 as a part of the gang. A playable character in
Final Fight Revenge, he decided to break off from Mad Gear and start his own private army, although he had to fend off an attack by El Gado and promised him great power. After that, he made an appearance in the
Street Fighter Alpha 2 as a selectable character, where he besieged Metro City with tanks in an attempt to start up a utopian military nation and had a falling through with Sodom. In
Street Fighter Alpha 3 he attempts to infiltrate
M. Bison's base but declares it worthless to his nation, upon which he makes up with Sodom. For more info, see
Rolento Schugerg.
Abigail
* Height: 238 cm (6 ft 9 in)
* Weight: 256 kg (563 lb)
Abigail is the boss of Metro City's Bay Area. He wears a white leopard outfit similar to Andore's, but stands out with his mohawk and a face makeup. He is the strongest member of the Mad Gear gang due to his superhuman strength and has never lost any of his street fights before. The canonical ending holds that he was defeated by Haggar in a pro-wrestling style showdown. His face turns red when he's angry, and when he's angry he rushes toward an opponent to strike. If you get too close then he immediately throws an opponent into the air.
In the NES classic
Mighty Final Fight, Abigail seems to take on a more amorous approach to his fighting. When a player is captured, he will begin kissing them, which subsequently drains their health.
Belger
Horace Belger is the mastermind of the Mad Gear gang and the final boss in the game. He secretly collected funds to establish Mad Gear from his privately owned enterprise, located in the Uptown area of Metro City. He first attacks with a repeating bolt-action crossbow gun while riding rapidly around the stage in a motorized, luxurious
wheelchair, and cannot be damaged until thrown out of it as he is holding Jessica hostage. There is some debate about whether Belger is actually crippled; in the original arcade version, he is clearly disabled as he only is able to inch around when standing and moves around the screen instead with short hops and lunges. In the Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance versions, though, he is clearly in perfect health, as once knocked from the
wheelchair he is able to stride around his office and leap higher than any of the human-controlled characters. This is perhaps because Nintendo was unwilling to depict violence against a disabled person, although that has never been confirmed. The canonical ending holds that Cody knocked Belger out of a window at the top of his Metro City headquarters, sending him plummeting to his death.
In
Mighty Final Fight, a humorous take on the series, he appears as a cyborg.
Belger returns as Zombie Belger in
Final Fight Revenge, but is defeated by Guy. Despite this, he seems to have corrupted Guy and the ninja goes off to purify himself by training.
Belger also has a younger brother. In
Final Fight: Streetwise, he is a priest who goes by the name of Father Bella, who is looking for revenge on the Travers brothers for killing his brother. At the end of the game, he reveals to Kyle that he waited to get his revenge and that his name is Father Belger.
Bull
Bull and
Elijah take over the job of
Bred as being the most basic enemies. Having a kick attack, they are also very predictable and are very slow.
Schot
Schot and
Jack are another form of basic thugs.
Mark
Mark and
Mic are short and odd-looking thugs. They are fast, with punch attacks similar to
Two P..
Elick
Elick borrows his build and charging attack from
Wong Who, but, in addition, possesses two
tuning fork-like weapons that can conduct
electricity.
Elias
Elias and
Eliot are tall and skinny fighters who use a
blackjack and kicking attacks to fight their opponents.
Atlas
Atlas and
Jony are cheap blockers similar to
Axl with the build of
Zangief from
Street Fighter II. If they are close to the opponent, they use a bear hug attack to drain a large quantity of the player's energy.
Mary
Mary and
Eliza are tall slender women using a
slapjack as a weapon. Like
Poison, not only do these women use high flying attacks (though this time is a
M. Bison-like stomp instead of a somersault kick), but they were replaced with male versions, named
Leon and
Robert, in the
US version of the game.
Won Won
* Height: 225 cm
* Weight: 205 kg
* Blood Type: A
Won Won (王 王) is the Mad Gear boss of the
Hong Kong area. Won Won is a former
sailor who occupies the seaport section in Hong Kong. He's described as a brutal man who's respected by the area's local mafia, 108 Dragon. In
Japanese version of
Final Fight 2, he battles with a
meat cleaver but it was censored from the
US version.
Freddie
* Height: 195 cm
* Weight: 185 kg
* Blood Type: O
Freddie is the boss of the
French area. He is a former member of the
US Marine Corps who got into trouble for the numerous fights he was a part of. He was dishonorably discharged after he punched out a commanding officer. He became a
mercenary hired by Mad Gear to lead their
terrorism unit.
Bratken
* Height: 205 cm
* Weight: 197 kg
* Blood Type: AB
Bratken is the boss of the
Holland area. He is a very big, very strong individual. He was
mentally unstable with the mindset of a little child. He was bribed by Mad Gear with a roomful of
toys to work for them. He's uncontrollable and is kept in a
prison when he isn't needed.
Phillipe
* Height: 182 cm
* Weight: 67 kg
* Blood Type: Unknown
Phillipe is the boss of the
England area. He's a
clown working for the
circus, shipping illegal items for Mad Gear through it. He uses a
cane to battle his opponents.
Rolento
Retu
* Height: 225 cm
* Weight: 205 kg
* Blood Type: B
Retu (烈) is the leader of the revived Mad Gear gang and the last
boss in the game. He appears as a
kabuki with a massive build and long pink hair. He fights in his hideout in
Japan. Retu's signature attacks were variations on spinning kick moves, similar to the
Tatsumakisenpukyaku used by
Ryu in the
Street Fighter series.
G
G and
Johnny are this game's basic common thugs. They punch, they kick, they walk, they don't do much else. G has an uncanny resemblance to the Final Fight hero, Guy, although he is much scruffier looking.
Ray
Ray and
Billy use punching combos and attack from behind.
Dirk
Dirk and
Rick are tall enemies that use the metal claws in their assault.
Fat Jack
Fat Jack and
Arby have a great amount of power, used to do running charges at the opponents.
May
May uses highflying attacks, stabs her opponents with
kunai attached to her fist, and has the honor of being the only female villain in the
Final Fight series not to be replaced with a male version in the SNES trilogy outside of
Japan.
Fritz
Fritz and
Joe look exactly alike, but attack differently. Joe is a short runt that attacks the opponent most when their back is turned. Fritz is a short runt who like Holly Wood, throws bombs at the opponent and runs away.
Hunter
Hunter is the game's one of the game's more powerful enemies. He uses a
baseball bat as his main, forceful attack.
Dave
Dave is the first boss. Like
Edi. E (a former member of the Mad Gear gang), Dave is a corrupt
cop of the MCPD. He uses a
nightstick as his weapon in battle. He also has a crippling move where he can jump abnormally high in the air and stomp hard on his opponent.
Callman
Callman is the second boss. Callman is possibly a
bouncer whose muscular physique is an asset in battle. He specializes in shoulder charging his opponent and devastating combo attacks. He may be recognized for his ridiculously small
bowtie.
Caine
Caine is the third boss. Nicknamed "The Destroyer," Caine is the gang's personal
mechanic. He uses his
wrench for more than just fixing things. His best technique in battle is his long reach and grapple attacks.
Drake
Drake is the fourth boss. He is a
sailor in charge of
smuggling in weapons to a company called
The Sims. He can shake the ground damaging his opponent. Given the opportunity, Drake also used an
anchor in battle.
Wong
Wong is the fifth boss. There is some confusion on what Wong's occupation is. Most believe he is a
chef, (based on his appearance). Some think he's a
monk, while others think he's both. His attacks mainly consisted of spin jumps and charges.
Stray
Stray is the sixth boss. He is
Black's second in command of the gang. He protects the Skull Cross gang's computer files containing their important information. Stray's fighting style mimics that of
Vega of the
Street Fighter series with his highflying attacks. He also wears spiked knuckles on his hands to increase his already devastating punch attacks.
Black
Black is the leader of the Skull Cross gang and the last
boss. While he rips off his shirt in battle, initially, he looks very similar to veteran
Final Fight villain,
Rolento. From boots, pants, a red
beret even the use of knives in battle the two almost mirror each other. He has a flogging whip as his main weapon along with the aforementioned knives. In addition, he uses a spinning bolo attack that is similar to Haggar's lariat and a ki attack similar to Guy's.
Street Thugs
The basic
Street Thugs who roam around most of Metro City are the closest in acting like the Mad Gear and Skull Cross gangs in the past. They mainly are basic characters that come in various designs and have various weapons, some of whom can throw knives. Unlike most other minor enemies, the thugs have no ties to any organization featured in the game.
Blue Ballers
The
Blue Ballers are the Weasel's personal gang. Their trademark is the Blue Ballers shirt they wear also worn by their boss. The game's manual suggests that the Weasel offers them free porn to work for him. The Ballers consist of a basic punch/kick thug and a fat thug that charges at the opponents similar to past Final Fight villains like Bill Bull. There are also Bule Ballers influenced by Glow that hold grenades until they explode.
Elite Guard
The
Elite Guard were mobsters who worked for the Siff and Blades. The wore three piece suits to separate themselves from Vito's men. While some of the Elite Gaurd fight with brute stregnth with the palette swap of that character aslso being able to tackle opponents. There are also characters only seen in the Bijou wearing white who fire guns, but they are usesless if they drop them often begging for their life, until an opportune time to get it back.
Attack Dogs
The
Attack Dogs (most likely
German Shepherds) are only featured in the Bijou hotel in the Pier District. Like their namesake the attack dogs attack the opponent with biting attacks. Because of their size, the dogs are harder to attack with only stomps and low kicks being effective.
Punx
The
Punx are like the street thugs but only more organized. They are located in the Pier District sporting mohawks and matching jackets. The leaders, who are smaller and wear leather jackets, whistle for the other Punx to battle for him, this is a homage to Damnd of the first Final Fight. The punx use the most weapons and fight more in a group than the other minor enemies. Like the Street Thugs, the Punx are not affiliated with any organiztion in the game, except for their own inner circle.
Gangsters
The
Gangsters are part of Vito Bracca's gang. They look like the Elite Guard only they only wear dress shirts with no jacket and are taller. They are slightly faster and stronger than Street Thugs but have better range because of their height. They can also use weapons in battle.
Chefs
The
Chefs are Vito Bracca's culinary staff at his Little Itally restaurant. They are big strong and are always euiqed with knives to attack and throw with Some of these chefs become effected by Glow later in the game.
Schoolgirls
In Japantown, the anime-esque
Schoolgirls run rapant. The schoolgirls are fast, use ninjitsu and wield katana blades. They briefly work with Blades when he attack's Guy's dojo. Unlike most other thugs who only attack when the opponet gets close, the Schoolgirls attack opponets despite being unprovoked.
Genin
The
Genin (meaning Low Ninja) are Guy's rookie ninja of whom he trains. They fight quickly with most using Katana. In story mode, they surround Kyle in a circle and battle him one at a time. The other Genin are unable to be hurt when one Genin is fighting Kyle until that Genin is defeated or switches out with another. The Genin dress in a similar manor to Guy and fight in a similar manor. At least one is seen killed by Blades.
Glowheads
Glowheads describe those addicted to the strength increasing, highly addictive drug, Glow. While some Glowheads don't fight unless provoked and are easy to kill this way, they are very dangerous in battle. Most Glowheads fight like Street Thugs, with the added ability to bite their opponents. There are Glowheads as part of the Blue Ballers, who holds a live grenade until it explode killing its holder. Chef Glowheads fight similar to normal chefs only stronger. More extreme cases are very tall and tough to defeat. One variations of tall Glowheads rushes and tackles leaving them exposed at they very end to being stomped into submission. The other tall Glowhead uses various knife attacks.
Pit-Fighters
The
Pit-Fighters are various opponents that Kyle Travers competes against in pit fights for money. Some of the fights in the game are mandatory, though Kyle still wins money from them (except for one regular fight against Lou "The Skin"), though many of the fights are optional. Pit-Fights don't involve weapons and only the ones in Japantown involve health and instinct power-ups. Along with money, Kyle is given a rank baised on how he used his offense and defense in the fight after a win. Kyle aside, the pit-fighters are:
Handsome Bob - The first character Kyle faces in the entire game. He is a pretty average fighter with an offense consisting mostly of punches. He is defeated first by The Locksmith and then by Kyle, and has a gang and/or fans that wanted to take out Kyle for his loss to him. The thugs fail to beat him as well. Handsome Bob can be located in Kyle's Hood.
The Locksmith - An optional pit-fighter who beat Handsome Bob before Kyle did. Like Bob, the Locksmith's attack set is basic but has more kick attacks than Bob. Notibly one of the kick attacks he uses is the
Somersault Kick (or alternately the
Flash Kick) used by
Guile of the
Street Fighter series. The Locksmith can be located in Kyle's Hood.
Ghost - One of the pit-fighters that Vito makes Kyle fight initially for info on Cody. Ghost is a quick Muay Thai fighter who uses various kick attacks and one elbow strike, he has no punches. During a match Ghost will frequently dodge or block Kyle's attacks. Due to his appearance and ability to use kickboxing (although not the same style), Ghost is an obvious homage to the very basic,
Joe of the
Street Fighter series. Ghost can be located in Little Italy.
Andore - One of the pit-fighters that Vito makes Kyle fight initially for info on Cody. Andore is a former Mad Gear and Skull Cross gang member who seems to have gotten better (albeit slower) in his old age. His moves are absurdly powerful and unblockable, he can't be knocked down unless he's beaten. Andore can be located in Little Italy. For more info, see
Andore.
Lou "The Skin" - A tattoo artist in Japantown who has a number of tattoos and piercings on himself. Kyle says he may be the best tattoo artist in the country and that he re-inks the fine line between genius and insanity from time to time. The Skin is very different from the others in Guy's crew, he's loud, crass, excitable and his fighting style more reflects
Capoeira than Bushido. While Kyle was searching for his brother Cody, he finds a picture of Cody's with an mob's man with a tattoo. He asks the Skin about it in his parlor and unexpectelly clocks Kyle over the head with a cash register. The tattoo is reavealed to belong to Guy, Cody's former ally, and a crimeboss the Skin is affilated with.
After some misunderstandings Kyle does battle with Guy's Genin when he comes to. After they are defeated, Lou takes the fight to Kyle. With his acrobatic fighting style Lou fends off Kyle, but is eventually defeated. Afterwards Kyle explains to Guy that Cody is missing and Guy and his gang cooperate with Kyle for the rest of the game. After the initial fight, Lou is unlocked as a pit-fighter in Japantown. Lou's handstand taunt pose is the same pose
Elena from
Street Fighter III does after a victory.
Cammy - An optional pit-fighter best known for her appearances in various games in the
Street Fighter series. Cammy uses many of her special moves that were seen in her early Street Fighter appearances, though her defense is atrocious. Cammy can be found in Japantown, although many are not totally sure why she's there. It is possible that she and Guy met around the time of
Street Fighter Alpha 3. For more info, see
Cammy White.
The Weasel (War)
Nick Wissell also known as
Nicky Wissell and more commonly
The Weasel is a porn theater owner in Kyle Travers' hood. The Weasel is a sneaky, scheming coward with absolutely no fighting skill and a penchant for protecting his face. He is also the leader of the Blue Baller street gang. Father Belger used his services to ship the drug, Glow across Metro City. Kyle ran afoul of Weasel after he interrupted Weasel's "session" with a "working girl" in search for his brother, Cody. After interrogating information out of him, Kyle heads to a warehouse where Weasel first sent the Blue Ballers to kill Kyle while simultaneously trying to smash him with wooden crates. When that failed he tried "Plan B", running over Kyle with a modified forklift. Kyle defeats the Weasel as he interrogates him once more. Weasel spills his guts leading Kyle to the Pier District.
Later in the game Kyle retunes to Weasel's warehouse seeking more information about the source of the Glow. Weasel, once again tries to kill him with the assistance of the Blue Ballers (some powered up by Glow) as he throws grenades at him. Kyle defeats the Blue Ballers once again and once again interrogates the Weasel. The Weasel faces Kyle for a final time, after he's injected with a substantial amount of Glow by Dr. Chang in Father Belger's church. Now known as
War, he faces Kyle in the church's graveyard armed with a gatiling gun and grenades. Due to the effects of the Glow, physical combat did not phase him, only with gunfire, grenades and Molotov cocktails was Kyle able to hurt him. War was defeated and killed by Kyle when he shot off his head and upper torso during the gunfight.
The Stiff (Death)
Devin Aranoc also known as
The Stiff was a gangster who worked for Father Belger. He gave Cody the drug Glow as a means for him to fight again. When Father Belger sought to meet with Cody and he refused, the Stiff and his thugs got into a fight with him and his brother, Kyle. In the end, Kyle was knocked out cold and Cody was kidnapped by the Stiff. In search for Cody, Kyle tracks the Stiff, with a bible he obtained from the Weasel, to the Bijou Hotel in the Pier District. The Stiff and Kyle battle in first a gunfight in his hotel room and a fist fight on the roof. It is from the Stiff in the latter fight that Kyle learns of his brother's desire to fight again. The Stiff is beaten by Kyle in both fights as he initially tries to save him from falling off the building. The Stiff threatens to kill Kyle and fires his gun at him prompting Kyle to let him go, plummeting to his certain death.
Apparently surviving the fall, the Stiff was injected by Dr. Chang with massive doses of Glow and turned into a mutant freak. Known as
Stiff Death in the game, Stiff was able to absorb and attack with electricity as well fire Glow colored spikes out of his back, which can regenerate. He also had the ability to recharge himself by draining the life from Glow induced rats. Despite all this, Kyle defeated the Stiff once more at the Pier District. Afterwards, the unstable nature of his body caused it to disintegrate. He was supposed to be Fr. Belger's Death horseman, but due to his early defeat at the hands of Kyle caused Cody to fill that role.
Blades (Famine)
Dino, commonly known as
Blades was a psycotic assasin for mob boss, Vito Bracca. After Kyle Travers angers Vito with his forceful questioning, he has Blades get Kyle out of his sight tosing Kyle in the middle of the Little Itally streets. Blades threatens to kill Kyle several times, between these events. Later in the game, Blades betrays and kills Vito, revealing he worked for Father Belger all along. Kyle sees this indescretly and follow Blades after Fr. Belger tells him to kill Cody. Kyle confrotnes Blades in the church graveyard. With his high-flying acrobatics and skills fighting with two knives, Blades proved a challenge to Kyle, but was eventually defeated by him.
Blades faces Kyle for a final time, after he's injected with a substantial amount of Glow by Dr. Chang in Father Belger's church. Now known as
Famine, he faces Kyle in a room of the church after he kills Kyle's ally, Sgt. Simms. With slightly incresed stregnth and the ability to strach his arms, Famine fought Kyle until he was defeated by Kyle. It is assumed that Famine died, but that has not been confirmed.
Pestilence
Pestilence is a giant, Glow induced monstrosity created by Dr. Chang. Chang felt that despite all the bad she had done by making the Glow that Pestilence was her ultimate creation. Initially, Pestilence fought very slowly by spilling acidic Glow in the nearby area, throwing one of many limbs it had and firing out explosive Glow bubbles at Kyle. Kyle defeated Pestilence a first time but Pestilence changed its form into a slimmer, more humanlike form. In this form, Pestilence used fighting combos, energy blasts and acquiring church pews as weapons to defeat Kyle. Kyle finally defeats the monster as it melts into nothing.
Cody (Death)
Father Belger
Father Belger is the mastermind of Glow outbreak in Metro City and the brother to Belger, the founder and original leader of the Mad Gear gang. Under the guise of a priest named
Father Bella (due to the name of Belger being infamous in the city), Fr. Belger forced Dr. Chang to make Glow, in an attempt to take over the city and become its "savior" and to cleans it of all sinners. His accomplices are the Weasel, who would distribute the Glow throughout the city, Blades who stopped and otherwise killed anyone who interfered with the plan, including his former boss, Vito Bracca and the Stiff, Fr. Belger's lead henchman who got him in touch with Cody Travers, a local hero turned retired vigilante fighter. Father Belger provided Cody with Glow so he can fight again until eventually Cody was addicted and out of control.
Initially, Cody was so out of control he sent Blades to kill him, but interference from Kyle Travers, Cody's brother, put an end to that. With more Glow made by Dr. Chang, Father Belger created his version of the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" Weasel, Blades and Stiff as War, Famine and Death respectively and a monstrous beast made by Dr. Chang called Pestilence. After further interference from Kyle Travers killing the Stiff, Fr. Belger made Cody, doped out of his mind on Glow, as his replacement as Death. After defeating the other three Horsemen, Kyle would face the visibly changed Cody and sadistic Fr. Belger. Belger tells Kyle, that he sought revenge for the death of his brother at Cody's hands by having Cody as Death kill Kyle. Initially Cody fought by himself, but Fr. Belger would help using grenades, a pistol, a bazooka and a sword to help fight Kyle, injecting more Glow into Cody if he has fallen.
Once both were defeated, Fr. Belger shot Cody and saw the opportunity to kill Kyle. Cody saved Kyle by knocking him and Belger off the roof of the church. While the both survived the fall, Kyle finally puts an end to Fr. Belger's madness by shooting him in the head at point blank range.
