The following is a list of office suites.

Office suites for Windows

Proprietary suites

*602PC Suite
*Ability Office
*Applixware [1]
*Ashampoo Office 2005 - Uses the same code base as SoftMaker Office. [2]
*Budgie Office - Historical but still available. [3] [4]
*EasyOffice Freeware
*EasyOffice Premium
*Evermore Integrated Office [5]
*Framework - historical but also still supported for Windows by the present developer, Selection & Functions Inc.
*GoBeProductive - Some of ClarisWorks developers started this office suite. [6]
*Haancom Office - Made by the makers of the popular Korea word processor, Hangul. The English language version is ThinkFree Office (see below). [7]
*IBM Lotus SmartSuite - Includes the famous Lotus 123 spreadsheet and the renamed AmiPro word processor.
*Microsoft Office
*Microsoft Works
*One (office suite) - New suite from the maker of Easy Office. Comprehensive suite now includes both EasyOffice and OpenOffice.org versions of various apps. This suite also includes versions of PeachTree accounting 2006 and other apps from commercial companies. [8]
*Papyrus Office - A fast, stable and functional office suite with DTP ability for several platforms. [9]
*SoftMaker Office
*StarOffice - Commercial suite from Sun Microsystems based off of OpenOffice code, to which Sun donates.
*Techdigm Office - Serious new Korean entry. Licensing issues are currently difficult although trial download is easy. [10]
*Textease Studio CT - An office suite geared to elementary and perhaps middle school teaching. Can open Excel files. Has many elements including, a word processor, spreadsheet, movie-maker, drawing module, a database module, a presentation module, a paint program, and an innovative branching classification maker, all geared to the level of children. [11]
*ThinkFree Office - May be the English language version of Haansoft Office.
*Corel WordPerfect Office
*WPS Office - Chinese office suite, considered to be a serious player in that country. So far no English version.
*Xoom Office - Historical but still available on eBay and elsewhere. Produced by the former makers of WordStar. [12]

Free suites

*GNOME Office - Includes AbiWord, Gnumeric and Gnome-DB data access components, AbiWord and Gnumeric are highly rated software. [13]
*OpenOffice.org - The parent project. Open Office contains a foundation of code from StarOffice. The code is donated on continually by Sun Microsystems as it develops it. Volunteers elaborate on the code to produce the various Open Office versions, including the base suite. [14]

Office suites for Mac

Proprietary suites

*AppleWorks - Formerly known as ClarisWorks, a famous early office suite. [15]
*iWork - Apple's Mac-only office suite. Includes Pages, for word-processing, and Keynote, for presentations.
*MarinerPak - Popular Mac word processor Mariner Write and spreadsheet Mariner Calc. [16]
*Microsoft® Office 2004 for Mac - This is the most recent version of MS Office for Mac and is newer than the current Windows version (Office 2003). [17]

Free suites

*NeoOffice - NeoOffice the main development project for making OpenOffice.org to run natively on Mac OS X. [18]

Office suites for Unix, Linux, AIX, BSD, Sun Solaris, or other operating systems

Proprietary suites

*Applixware - Some versions are freeware some are commercial. Is built with a powerful macro/programming language. Exists in Linux, Free BSD, Sun Sparc Solaris, and IBM AIX as well as Windows versions. [19]
*Axene - An office suite for Unix, Linux, SunOS, Solaris Sparc, FreeBSD & NetBSD. Fancy Website, but seems to have halted development in 1999. [20]
*DeskMaster - An Office Suite for AS400 with no spreadsheet but a bunch of other office tools including mail and word processing. [21]
*Evermore Integrated Office - An intriguing new Chinese integrated office suite. Available for Red Hat Linux 8.0 KDE desktop environment or above. [22]
*Framework - Historical but also still supported for Windows by the present developer. Works with Novell Netware, OS/2, Apple Macintosh Power PC using Insignia Soft Windows, NeXTSTEP using Insignia Soft Windows, a number of Unix DOS emulators, Novell DOS 7, and earlier DOS versions dating back to DOS 3.0. *SoftMaker Office 2004 - German company with a strong word processor and spreadsheet. [24]
*StarOffice - A powerful mature suite from which Sun donates code to the OpenOffice.org project. Available for Linux and Sun Solaris. [25]

Free suites

Other than OpenOffice.org

*Ability Office - is only in Alpha testing. [26]
*Andrew - An office suite for Linux and UNIX, developed by Carnegie Mellon University and named after Andrew Carnegie. Works with AIX 3.2, SunOS 4.1.3 & Solaris 2.4, Ultrix 4.3, HPUX 9.0, Linux (Red Hat Linux & Slackware). [27]
*GNOME Office - a loosely coupled group of open-source applications including Abiword and Gnumeric, which is targeted for the GNOME desktop environment.
*KOffice - KOffice is a free, integrated office suite for KDE, the K Desktop Environment. [28]
*Siag Office - A suite with a sense of humor. The word processor is called Pathetic Writer. [29]

OpenOffice.org and its offshoots

*602Office - A Czech and Slovak commercial version of OpenOffice.org. Contains the 602SQL database program. [30]
*Jambo OpenOffice - A Swahili version of OpenOffice.org. [31]
*OpenOffice.org - The parent project. OpenOffice.org contains a foundation of code from StarOffice. The code is donated on a continuum basis by Sun Microsystems as it develops it. Volunteers elaborate on the code to produce the various OpenOffice.org versions, including the base suite. [32]
*RomanianOffice - Romanian Version of OpenOffice.org. [33]

Online office suites

*EyeOS - Free open-source web office translated to 30 languages. eyeos.info
*FlySuite - A low priced office suite that installs locally and is also available anywhere if users have a subscription. Java-based. [34]
*gOffice - An impressive start to the Web 2.0 office suite concept. The spreadsheet, which imports Excel files, and the word processor which can accept pastes from MS Word are ready. The presentation module is being worked on but the desktop publishing module does work. [35]
*Microsoft Office Live - [36]
*SimDesk - A suite of online MS Office compatible software available with a subscription to SimDesk Services which cost from $3.50 – $20 a month. With a subscription, you are allowed to install the application anywhere. [37]
*Thinkfree Office Online Beta - Very interesting well developed new idea. Java-based. [38]
*Zoho Office Suite Free online office suite including word processor, spreadsheet, presentations, and collaboration groupware. [39]

Historical

*ClarisWorks - Famous early Mac Office suite. It has morphed and branched into AppleWorks and GoBeProductive. When the original developers split up, ClarisWorks continued as AppleWorks after being bought by Apple, and GoBeProductive was redeveloped from the ground up using ideas from the original. [40]
*Framework - historical but also still supported for Windows by the present developer, Selection & Functions Inc. -[41]
*Lotus Jazz - Mac sister product to Lotus Symphony below.
*Lotus Symphony - Following the popularity of office suites made by competitors, the makers of the wildly popular Lotus 123, tried their hand at a suite for Windows.
*Xoom Office - historical but still available on eBay and elsewhere. Produced by the makers of WordStar. [42]
