death toll is the number of dead as a result of war, violence, accident, natural disaster, extreme weather, or disease.
Below is a list of death tolls for various infamous incidents. Most numbers are estimates and are often in dispute.The incidents are ranked by the lowest estimate given.
Some events overlap categories.
In total, all these events combined account for of at least 398,218,714, perhaps as high as 640,951,868. Reliable figures are not available for ancient wars and similar incidents.
