Minor characters in Sonic the Hedgehog
The
Sonic the Hedgehog universes and continuities have dozens of minor characters, many of whom are
anthropomorphic animals. Minor characters are arranged here according to the continuity in which they appear.
For characters that appear exclusively in the
SatAM and
Archie comics continuities, see the separate article
Minor characters in Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie).
NOTE: Characters from the video game continuity are often used in others as well.
Babylon Guardian
The Babylon Guardian is a fictional character from
Sonic Riders. He is a bottled Genie-god resembling a large purple hawk who guards the treasure of Babylon. This treasure was revealed to be a 'magic carpet' which was actually a prototype Extreme Gear created by the ancient Babylonians. He regards those who seek treasure as greedy, and he is hidden behind a large door in Babylon Garden (The Hanging Gardens of Babylon). He is the final 'boss' of Sonic Riders. He is defeated at the end of the Babylon Story by Sonic in Digital Dimension.
The guardian god is defeated by boosting into his bottle three times. His health is displayed at the top of the screen. He occasionally shrinks into his bottle. You have to successfully hit the bottle and cross the finish line to go on to the next lap; your lap counter will remain on Lap 1 until you boost into him and cross the marker. Once he is defeated, cross the finish line first and win the race. He can be battled in free mode by selecting the Babylon Guardian course.
Bark the Polarbear
Bark the Polarbear is a yellow
polar bear who appears in the games
Sonic the Fighters and
Fighters Megamix alongside
Bean the Dynamite. He lacks speed and has a low
IQ, but his incredible strength makes up for it. He has the comical ability of flattening an opponent's head in
Sonic the Fighters.
He and Bean appear in issue #160 of the Archie
Sonic the Hedgehog comic, where they ambush Sonic on his birthday, but Bark finds himself outnumbered and surrenders to Fiona the Fox. He also made a cameo appearance in issue #50
Bark also makes an appearance in
Shenmue as a collection toy.
Battle Kukku Army
The Battle Kukku Army are an army of birds that invade Cocoa Island in
Tails Adventure. They invade the island to snag the Chaos Emeralds which are hidden on the island.
Tails battles against the army and has to go up against their leader, the evil
dictator Grand Battle Kukku the 15th. Tails defeats him and the birds surrender. Another name for the Battle Kukku Army is the Battle Bird Armada.
Bean the Dynamite
Bean the Dynamite is a green
duck in the game
Sonic the Fighters, also formely known in
North America and
Europe as
Sonic Championship.
Bean likes to throw
bombs at his enemies, and seems to have an endless supply of them (it is believed that he has the ability to instantly manifest any type of explosive). The character was modeled after Bin and Pin, two characters in the
arcade game Dynamite Dux.
He has also starred in
Fighters Megamix, along with
Bark the Polarbear.
Another lesser known appearance of Bean would be in
Virtua Striker 2 . Bean is featured in this game on an unlockable team.
He and Bark appear in issue #160 of Archie's
Sonic the Hedgehog comic where Bean jumps out of the window after Fiona the Fox's keys, and is later knocked out by
Shadow the Hedgehog. He also made a cameo in the series' 50th issue.
A new character in
Sonic Riders called
Jet the Hawk bears a striking resemblance to him; even to the extent of people mistaking them for one another.
Eggman Nega
Eggman Nega is one of the main villains in the Nintendo DS game,
Sonic Rush. He is more cruel and calculating than the Eggman from Sonic's world, and has sent Blaze's world into ruin, thus why he sets out for the Sol Emeralds. He is eerily polite for such a cold and calculating person. His downside, however, is that he can sometimes lose track of important details while making unnecessary speeches. His design appears reminiscent to the older Eggman (Robotnik) from the Genesis Sonic games.
The pet and best friend of Big the Cat, Froggy is a large
frog. During the course of
Sonic Adventure and part of
Sonic X, Froggy swallows both a part of
Chaos and a Chaos Emerald. Abducted by
E-102 Gamma, Froggy was taken to the
Egg Carrier. Big pursued him, and recovered his friend. However, the Chaos Emerald and the part of Chaos he had swallowed were absorbed into Chaos, allowing it to become Chaos 6, but was eventually rescued by Big with the aid of Sonic. They then took the Tornado 2 back to Mystic Ruins (where Chaos found the final Chaos Emerald to become
Perfect Chaos in the final story)
In
Sonic Heroes, Froggy and Chocola Chao were abducted by
Metal Sonic. Big and his allies in Team Rose came running, and after much searching recovered Froggy from Metal Sonic's Eggman android. Froggy was, apparently, kidnapped so Metal Sonic could copy the residual data of Chaos. Though this clashes with Adventure's story because Froggy was supposed to have given up every drop of Chaos that still possessed him.
An interesting suggestion is that Froggy originates from Frog Forest, a level in Sonic Heroes, which has giant frogs that can summon forth rain and bear a very strong resemblance to Froggy.Froggy might be able to use Chaos enhanced attack without any Chaos Emeralds like Shadow.
Honey
A prototype character for
Sonic the Fighters but did not make it in the final version. Honey was based on Honey from
Fighting Vipers, but she now looks like a cat-like Sonic character. However, it is possible to play Honey if you hack into the Arcade version. (She is also in the
Sonic Gems Collection version, but her data has been garbled beyond repair.)
Lumina Flowlight
The Queen of Maginaryland. She appears in the game
Sonic Shuffle. She bears a resemblance to
Cosmo, but moreso to
NiGHTS. In fact, an
Easter Egg replaces Lumina with NiGHTS in much of Sonic Shuffle.
Mecha Knuckles
Just as
Metal Sonic is the robot counterpart to Sonic,
Mecha Knuckles is the robot
doppelgänger of Knuckles. He has Knuckles' strength, with even greater speed. In terms of videogames, Metal Knuckles only appeared in
Sonic R, but a counterpart of a similar appearance made various appearances in
Sonic the Comic in the UK, under the Metallix name. A robotic version of Knuckles made an appearance as a boss in
Sonic Advance. It is unknown whether it is the same robot. He had virtually every move Knuckles had, plus the ability to shoot rockets. He had to be hit 6 times, the first 3 only remove his armor.
In the Archie Comics series the
Freedom Fighters were once forced to roboticize Knuckles to combat a roboticized version of Sonic, and Knuckles was dubbed "Mecha Knuckles". In STC, he was a new version of the
Metallixes, loyal only to Robotnik and with increased strength. It made its debut capturing Sonic from the
Drakon Empire and then acting as a Prosecutor in Sonic's trial-by-combat, and it came very close to killing him until Tails destroyed it by sheer luck. The Metallix was only reused once, as Grimer used it to defeat Sonic so he could discover from him what happened to Robotnik; he then faked things so Sonic wouldn't remember this and instead think he beat Metallix. In its three clashes with Sonic, the Knuckles Metallix has
never been defeated. It was shown at one point that Robotnik had a whole army of them, but they were never shown in use and may well have been eliminated when Sonic cleared out Flickies' Island.
In Sonic R, Mecha Knuckles was the character that went through the most shortcuts, following this character was the easiest way to find the quickest route to the finish line.
His likelihood for a possible return is very low since he was only used once, and in the new 3D games his reapperance might tarnish Metal Sonic's standing.
Omochao
 |
Omochao. |
Omochao is a robotic Chao. His name is a play on the Japanese word
omocha, which means "toy".
Omochao is used as the 'help' feature during the games. Omochao is featured in the games
Sonic Adventure 2 for
Sega Dreamcast,
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for
Nintendo GameCube,
Sonic Advance 3,
Sonic Pinball Party and
Shadow the Hedgehog. He also appears as the menu navigator and on the Sea Gate level (voice only) in
Sonic Heroes. In
Sonic Battle, Cream plants bombs that look similar to Omochao.
It is said that Omochao substitutes the old-school videogame manual, as it offers help during the game, instead of having you to search in the manual. The little cyborg can be picked up and thrown as well as used to destroy enemies. When attacked, picked up, thrown, or put down, he makes remarks. Some people find him cute and useful, while others use his ability to be thrown and 'hurt' as a method of punishment for being annoying. His more annoying and/or blatantly obvious quotes are quite popular on gaming forums, especially those of
GameFAQs. Common ones include "Keep your health meter above zero," "Be careful not to fall!," and "
Rouge must have grown wings, because she's FLYING!"
Omochao also has the habit to say "I won't help you any more." when you throw him to a fiery death on one of games levels (Sonic Adventure 2?), yet appear later to help you.
In
Sonic Battle, Omochao is used by
Cream the Rabbit as a bomb. In
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle a large Omochao is used as a walker for the Chao in 2-player combat (With a regular sized Omochao as its close-range weapon), and there is also a Dark version (With a matching regular Dark Omochao for close combat). In
Shadow the Hedgehog, there is a weapon known as the Omochao Gun that can be unlocked by beating
Cosmic Fall. This weapon fires objects that assimilate Omochao's head at targets. They have a wide range and can bounce off walls. When upgraded, the weapon is capable of killing an enemy with a single shot. This is an expansion of the popular use of Omochao as a weapon.
Omochao also commentates on the races in
Sonic Riders, but
Amy Palant's take-on of the character makes Omochao sound a little different (and feminine), and it makes many people unaware it is actually Omochao until near the end of story mode where he appears on the news.
In
Sonic Adventure 2 and
Sonic Heroes, Omochao was voiced by
Lani Minella.
Pachacamac
Pachacamac (or
Chief Pachacamac, and sometimes known as
Pochacamac) is an echidna who is
Tikal's father. He is 52 years old, is three feet and nine inches tall, and weighs 106 pounds. He first appeared in
Sonic Adventure in various flashbacks to the past that the characters experience, due to Tikal (in the form of a glowing ball). He is named after an
Incan deity.
Pachacamac inherited his chief rank from his mother and he is a greedy warmonger. Although at first he loved his daughter, he lost all compassion when his wife died. Tikal did try to talk her father out of his warmongering ways but ultimately failed. Later, along with a group of echidna warriors, he tried to take the
Chaos Emeralds as he considered it a key to the echidna tribes' survival. Tikal tried to defend the shrine and the Chao but Pachacamac ignored her pleas and ordered the warriors to go on. Tikal is pushed aside and the Chao of the shrine are killed in the process. This angers Chaos who appears and uses the Chaos Emeralds to become Perfect Chaos. Pachacamac and his warriors are killed and the echidna tribe's home is destroyed. Thus causing his daughter Tikal to rush to the Master Emerald to plead that it gets Chaos under control.
In the Archie comic book, he lived near the Mysterious Cat City (or Country) and had a disagreement with the Cat people. They started a battle, but when he started to lose, he tried to take the Chaos Emeralds. Once again, Chaos kills them.
In the British "Sonic the Comic", Pochacamac (as his name was mistakenly spelt) is far more benevolent, and has a strong relationship with his daughter. In this continuity, the
Drakon Empire waged war with the Echidnas, so when the Drakons came, they took over the emerald mines and made an unstable energy source. The Chaos energy was unsecure, so by using the Echidnas' emeralds, they were able to control the chaos energy, resulting in the Chaos Emeralds. Pochacamac then ordered his men to take it so he could take over the galaxy, so the Drakons waged war on them. Since Pochacamac had the Power of the Chaos Emeralds, he transported
Sonic to the past. Sonic assisted Knuckles in the capture of the Drakon Fish, so Pochacamac could make peace, but the Drakon had attacked. In the war, the Chaos Emeralds were hit, which caused it to become unstable. Everyone ran and the Drakon Fish become Chaos.
Tikal says this is the beginning of the Great War, but Pochacamac and Sonic wanted to fight with Chaos. Pochacamac had returned Chaos to his own time with the Chaos Energy he stole from Chaos so it would make him weaker.
Knuckles could then fight him. When the war ended, Pochacamac, Tikal, and Knuckles thought about the beginning of a war that would determine what would happen to the Echidnas. Although they knew Knuckles would live 8000 years, they realized that everything else was lost.
In Sonic X, he does about the same thing as in the game.
Because this character came from the past, he is never seen again after
Sonic Adventure.
In
Sonic Adventure, Pachamac was voiced by
Steve Broadie. In
Sonic X, he is voiced by
Dan Green.
Ray the Flying Squirrel
In
SegaSonic The Hedgehog,
Ray the Flying Squirrel appeared as one of three playable characters, but hasn't been seen since. Many fans consider him as a "scrapped" character in the game continuity. Others believe that he may have joined Mighty the Armadillo in exploring, and may make a comeback if Mighty does, as well.
Although real
flying squirrels are known for their gliding ability, in the game Ray and Mighty played identically to Sonic.
For info about Ray in the
Archie comics, see
the Chaotix page as he is a member of the Chaotix in the comics.
Tails Doll
 |
The Tails Doll. |
The
Tails Doll (also mistakenly called "Puppet Tails") is a secret character in the game
Sonic R, unlocked by finding the 5 tokens in the "Radical City" track and finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the race. Tails Doll has poor handling, average acceleration and average top speed. Its jumping abilities are quirky, too, since it cannot jump very high, but seems able to float as it can glide over water in the courses. It is also the only character who can float over the water without slowing down after a period of time. If you are not playing as the Tails doll and you beat him, sometimes it looks like he is bleeding (though it is just his shoes).
Tails Doll seems to be one of
Dr Robotnik's creations. Sonic R features metal versions of Sonic and Knuckles. This is likely due to the fact
Metal Sonic had long been established as one of Sonic's most deadly foes. However, in place of a "Metal Tails", there is the Tails Doll, an unusual move. Tails Doll was most likely created by
Traveller's Tales, the team that worked on Sonic R. This likely explains why he has not yet appeared in another Sonic game. Although similar characters appear along with Sonic dolls and Knuckles dolls in
Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut as targets in E102's first level), these Tails dolls had no red jewel on their forehead.
It is also possible to assume that Tails Doll was designed as a joke character due to all the other Robots being designed as real threats (with the exception of Eggrobo who is the only existing Badnik to appear in Sonic R). Its appearance is as mysterious as the character, and many people wonder about the strange jewel on its forehead that it supposedly draws energy from. This has not yet been verified, and probably never will be, for SEGA and SONIC TEAM have not used Tails Doll in any further productions.
There have been other sightings of this strange character. In one the original
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons, Robotnik's Minions dress up as Tails's long-lost parents to fool him. One has a zip down the back, as Tails Doll does, and the antenna sticks out the top, rather like the jewel on Tails Doll's head.
It is assumed that Tails Doll and Metal Knuckles did not, unlike Metal Sonic, gain sentience and therefore would likely have been deactivated by Robotnik or destroyed by Sonic, whereas Metal Sonic appears to have gained a sort of will to live. It is unlikely Tails Doll will appear again in the series. Many fans have assumed Tails Doll was once used as a decoy to fool Sonic in the place of the real Tails, through no published media or games have supported this theory.
The President
The President resides in Central City, the Capital of the United Federation. He lives in a building very similar to the
White House. The President appears in
Sonic Adventure 2 and
Shadow the Hedgehog. He has an admiration for Sonic and Shadow for their deeds of saving the world from "tyranny and annihilation" multiple times. He is voiced by
Steve Brodie in Sonic Adventure 2, and by
Maddie Blaustein in Shadow the Hedgehog. It is currently unknown about his fate as Central City (as well as the White House) were destroyed by the Eclipse Cannon in
Shadow the Hedgehog, but it is likely that the city will be rebuilt (Note: The Eclipse Cannon event only occurs in the dark path of Shadow the Hedgehog and is likely not canon. The President is alive and well in the definitely canon Last Story)He is also mentioned by Rouge during
Sonic Heroes; if you stand still for too long, Rouge will say "I haven't seen the President lately."
Trivia
The president's real name is Michael R.
The President's Secretary
The President's Secretary appears in
Sonic Adventure 2 and is heard in
Shadow the Hedgehog. She is seen with the President in his limosine and appears to be oblivious to the events happening around her when Sonic and Tails leap into the limo to pick up Eggman's coordinates, but it might be because she received a message from the agent,
Rouge the Bat. In
Shadow the Hedgehog she speaks to the President via an answering machine. There is also a way to get her as the background theme for the options menu in SA2:B.
Tiara Boobowski
Tiara Boobowski is a character designed for
Sonic X-treme, a canceled game for the
Sega Saturn. According to
Chris Senn, the lead designer of the project, Tiara was supposed to be a
Manx kitten with an attitude similar to Sonic. She was to be sporty and outgoing. She was also designed as a love interest for Sonic.
Interesting Fact: The original concept of Tiara resembled more of a
Bandicoot than a Manx Cat, but the final version of Tiara resembles more of a female hedgehog with hair instead of quills.
She and her father, Gazebo Boobowski, were the keepers of the magical Rings Of Order. As the storyline for Sonic X-treme goes, Robotnik had tried to steal the rings, and Tiara and her father asked Sonic to stop Robotnik. She was one of the planned playable characters in
Sonic X-treme.
Void
The imp-like villain from
Sonic Shuffle. He also has a strange but creepy resemblance to Cosmo from Sonic X. Throughout the game, Void shows signs of depression and loneliness which touches the hearts of Sonic and his friends who, in turn, want to help him amidst the evilness within him.
Bocoe
A short, grey robot, Bocoe is Decoe's partner. Similar to Grounder (from
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog), Bocoe is kicked around by both his pal and Eggman. However, Bocoe is very quick-witted, and can send out a signal to Bokkun. He is also very clumsy, and often complains about his treatment. Bocoe can combine with Decoe in two ways, in reality and in their dreams. In reality, the two merge to send out a Bokkun signal, with Bocoe on top. They can also combine to form a rocket launcher, as shown in Episode 75. Bocoe is voiced by
Darren Dunstan.
Bokkun
Bokkun is employed by
Doctor Eggman to send messages to
Sonic that come in a form of a
TV that blows up in anyone's face. Bokkun gets mistreated and cries very easily, due to Eggman always hurting him. His pleasures include annoying people with
bombs or eating various desserts, and he is very loyal to Eggman, who he treats like a
father or
creator. Bokkun can
fly and has a boiling point
temper. He even once called upon the Egg Golem also seen in
Sonic Adventure 2. It is unknown if Bokkun is a robot or an
anthropomorph, though there's been very strong evidence towards the latter. During the
Metarex conflict, Bokkun is forced to help
Rouge, who
blackmails him with a locket he owns, threatening to show everyone the picture of the girl inside it whom Bokkun has a crush on
Bokkun looks like a black, gold eyed type of Dark Chao with blue and white patches without his bauble, and a pale green rucksack over his shoulder, where he keeps his privileged bombs. He is some what similar to
Bean the Dynamite, since they both have a liking to explosives.
Bokkun is voiced by
Andrew Rannells.
Chuck Thorndyke
Chuck Thorndyke is the paternal grandfather of
Chris Thorndyke. He is a
scientist and
inventor. He always is helping Chris, Sonic and the gang out whenever they need help. He is 55 years old.
Much in the same way that Chris bonds with
Sonic the Hedgehog during the latter's stay with the family, and the maid Ella bonds with
Cream the Rabbit, Chuck forms a close friendship with
Tails, who shares his love of inventing.
Many fans believe his name is a reference to the SatAM and Archie Sonic continuities as his nickname "Chuck" and his full name "Charles" are shared by SatAM and Archie Sonic's uncle.
Decoe
Decoe is one of Dr. Eggman's robots and Bocoe's partner from
Sonic X. He can combine with Bocoe in two ways, in reality and in their dreams. In reality, the two merge to send out a Bokkun signal, with Bocoe on top.
Decoe is quite clumsy, but is eager to help. He is voiced by
Andrew Rannells.
Ella
Chris Thorndyke's large and jolly maid, possibly of Hispanic descent. Ella seems to enjoy her job, but she dislikes dirt. Ella meets Sonic and the others quickly, after Cream blows her cover at Chris' birthday party. Ella quickly made a close relationship with Cream and Amy. She can become hotheaded at times and can practically do anything when in a bad mood, even piloting the X Tornado. Ella entered the Emerald Fighting Tournament, battling
Big the Cat with a frying pan. Froggy hopped out of Big's fur and jumped on Ella, causing her to faint. However, Big was disqualified for going out of the ring while running from Ella. This entire fight was removed from the American 4kids dub version.
Helen
Helen is Chris Thorndyke's classmate, who is handicapped. She sometimes accompanies Sonic and his friends on their adventures. When they are young, she shows possibly romantic feelings toward Chris, but in the future, Helen and Chris are romantically involved with each other.
Mr. Tanaka
Chris Thorndyke's
Japanese butler. He is tall, thin, looks very stern and wears glasses. He is a martial artist and develops a relationship with Topaz in the first series. He somewhen discovered the presence of Sonic and the others long before Ella did and revealed his secret to Chris when he found him scolding Cream. Tanaka entered the Emerald Fighting Tournament and was defeated by Emerl. In the French dub, his first name is revealed to be Edward.
Hertia/Earthia
Hertia (Earthia in the English 4kids dub) is the mother of Galaxina and
Cosmo. She is presumably the leader of Cosmo's clan, and chose to flee after the Green Planet was destroyed. Surviving on a fake Planet Egg, she transformed into her true self; a giant tree. The seeds that come from this tree make new offspring, depending if cared for or not. After that, she gives birth to the last of her offspring, which is Cosmo. She then grew weaker and died when the Metarex landed on their ship. She later appears in a holographic image on the abandoned Green Planet, showing how the planet fell. At the final moment of the forestation project, Hertia appears to Cosmo and tells her what to do, and suddenly, Cosmo's amulet shatters. Her last appearance is when Dark Oak has been defeated; suddenly a light (which is Hertia) appears to him and says that they have a second chance. They both then disappear in a flash of light and are never seen again.
B.A.R.F.
B.A.R.F, the
Badnik Army Repair Functionaries], were a division of Robotnik's workers who repaired the
Badnik robots destroyed by the Freedom Fighters. How big the division was is unknown: only two of its Search and Repair operatives, Cam (a cat) and Bert (a bull) were ever seen. Bert was the general 'handy-man' (with a strong fondess for hammers and hitting things with them); Cam, easily his intellectual superior, dealt more in re-programming computers. Both of them were highly devoted to Robotnik and the "improvements" he'd made to Mobius.
The two appeared in two of their own
Sonic's World stories -
No More Mr. Nice Bug [STC 32-34] and
The Seven Badniks [STC 59-62]. In their first appearance, Sonic's ally Porker Lewis made a weapon that could change the programming of Badniks to make them pacifist "Niceniks" (pacifist up until the point you stepped on a flower, anyway). While reprogramming the corrupted Moto Bugs back, B.A.R.F managed to lose two of them and they had to track them down for fear they would infect other Moto Bugs. When the Niceniks launched a vicious assault on them for harming flowers, Cam and Bert retaliated by smashing them.
In their second appearance (wearing new uniforms and with Cam having less jagged teeth), they were tasked with transporting Badniks from the Miracle Planet's Palmtree Panic Zone to Mobius' Green Hill Zone, in order to catch Sonic off guard by having him face Badniks he wouldn't expect to find in that Zone. However, the Palmtree Panic moels refused to share a Zone with the older Green Hill Badniks and ran amok, exterminating all the older models. The titular Seven Badniks were then built out of Green Hill Badniks by B.A.R.F to pacify the Palmtree Panic models, which they did with ease. The unruly Badniks were then taken back to the Miracle Planet (where they were promptly smashed by the vactioning Freedom Fighters). Cam & Bert never returned again, and neither did the Seven Badniks despite the writer deliberately setting them up to be used again.
NOTE: though it ran at the same time, 'The Seven Badniks' must be set before the story 'Brotherhood Of Metallix' because of the use of the Palmtree Panic Zones and the Miracle Planet without the Brotherhood's involvement.
Blockhead Bill
The elderly father of
Mighty the Armadillo, Blockhead Bill is a somewhat senile former crimefighter who keeps mistaking random people for his old enemies. He is kept partly under control by his partner Society Max, who uses a special formula to change into a dinosaur like creature.
It has been suggested by co-creator
Nigel Kitching that Bill and Max were partners in more than a business sense.
The Fundamental Four
The Fundamental Four appeared one, in a two part
Chaotix story
The Fundamental Four [STC 80 & 81] they were (obvious)parodies of the
Marvel Comics characters the
Fantastic Four a theme with the enemies in the
Special Zone. They were however, slightly more original than some. The team, who bickered constantly, were made up of Hydran, Squall, Gravel and Flare. Hydran, who lead the group, was made up of water kept solid by a stretching specially made suit and fishbowl-like head, Squall appears to be made of air or smoke, and appears to be a goblin of sorts, Gravel is a man of earth who speaks in unintelligable nonsense (that all his teammates seem to understand fine) and Flare, the female of the group, was made of fire. Flare is the only character to resemble a
Sonic Team design for the animal characters in the universe. The Fundamental Four were old enemies of The Chaotix having spent years in prison because of them, they assaulted the Chaotix's headquarters, shortly after, having finally grown too irritating for them,
Vector had thrown out
Charmy Bee, the remaining members were defeated and put in a liquidator, luckily Charmy spotted them through a window. Charmy was able to 'borrow' workers from his mother's hive, who used the Four's powers against them to fashion them into an urn.
NOTE: Exactly where the liquidator came from is never explained.
Grimer
Grimer is Robotnik's lab assistant, a green-skinned
Igor-type character who bears the brunt of much of his master's wrath. Grimer is shown to be the main technical genius in Robotnik's organization (comparable to Robotnik himself), and in this universe was the main force behind creating the Metallix robots (see
Metal Sonic). Indeed, the Metallix robots were created by Grimer, even in an alternate reality in which Robotnik had never existed.
Grimer was pathologically loyal to Robotnik, willingly taking all the abuse metted out to him and when he was left in charge of the Metropolis Zone he was as draconian as possible in order arrest many citizens (for crimes such as being outside during the 5 O'Clock curfew that was announced at 5:05) so Robotnik would be pleased. Several times he was in positions where he could've become an independent villain but he always remained loyal to Robotnik - when Robotnik was overthrown (and Grimer was still free), he rescued his master from his trial; he pretended to defect to the
Drakon Empire as part of Robotnik's grand plan when he could've just as easily genuinely defected; and when Robotnik was
shrunk to the size of an atom, Grimer plotted tirelessly from behind the scenes to retrieve him. It was Grimer who released
Chaos, trying to cheer up a depressed Robotnik after his plans to destroy Mobius had failed. Finally, in the very final issue of the comic, Grimer realised his master was totally mad when he found out the suicidally-insane Robotnik's new plan consisted of summoning the
Chaos creature to the Chaos Emeralds and watching Mobius die in the process. Grimer finally snapped, calling his old boss crazy and quitting his service.
However, in the online continuation of Sonic the Comic, the Next Issue section of the current volume shows someone who appears to be Grimer standing in the background behind Doctor Robotnik.
He is named after
Grima Wormtongue from
The Lord of the Rings. On the sonicthecomic Yahoo mailing list, Nigel Kitching has revealed that originally
Snively was going to be Robotnik's assistant as he thought that he was required to use the character (as the television cartoon was debuting); when Kitching discovered he didn't have to, he created Grimer instead. The script for "Girl Trouble Part One", Grimer's first appearance, has all his lines attributed to Snively.
He was once mistakenly referred to as "Grimer Wormtongue" in the front section of STC #178 by a then-new editor, but this never happened in the pages of the story, and therefore it can be assumed that it is not his actual name.
Johnny Lightfoot
The character of
Johnny Lightfoot was originally based on the standard
rabbit creature that could often be seen hopping away from a defeated
badnik in early games of the series, though he was later adapted to a more humanoid form and gained clothes (including a red jacket). Johnny fought with a unique-looking staff-like weapon, and was one of the most loyal and reliable of the Freedom Fighters. He was said to have many relatives (as actual rabbits tend to have). Unlike the other Freedom Fighters, he never had much in the way of his solo adventures or major storylines, only having the Agent X saga (see below) and a battle against the forces of
Commander Brutus; he even once openly expressed a desire to have his own solo adventure, right before Brutus' Badniks attacked.
A storyline in later issues introduced a villain called Agent X, one of Robotnik's minions, who revealed himself to be Johnny. It soon turned out that it was not the real Johnny as, due to a rip in time and space, he had been captured & replaced by shadow-like aliens. Sonic saved Johnny and Agent X was destroyed.
The character of Johnny Lightfoot was killed in the final story arc of STC based on
Sonic Adventure. Where he attempted to reconnect power to an object the characters needed to defeat the rampaging Chaos. As he reconnected the power, Chaos attacked him and, being in a liquid form, completed the circuit and electrocuted Johnny. Nigel Kitchings explanation in the original pitch for the Sonic Adventure adaption for Johnnys death was "Johnny's dull so he must die", though this was tongue-in-cheek.
Kitching has also said that he once planned Johnny to be in a love triangle with Sonic and Amy Rose. Though the idea was hinted at in a few stories, this storyline was never developed within the comic.
Lew Stringer originally planned for Agent X to actually be Johnny, but he decided not to because he felt irresponsible doing so as he did not originally bring Johnny into the comic himself.
In the Unofficial continuation of Sonic the Comic, Johnny supposedly reappeared but it was in fact a nightmare creature that was feeding off Amy's fear. She eventually got rid of it by stopping being so scared of the death of Johnny.
The Marxio Brothers
|
L to R Harpio, Grouchio, Chicio. |
One of earliest of
Sonic The Comic's thinly vieled parodies. The Marxio Brothers (Grouchio, Chicio, Harpio) are a strange mix of 1930 comedians
The Marx Brothers and video game icons the
Super Mario Bros.. Given their debut was at a time when Sega and Nintendo were THE rivals in the Video Game industry, perhaps a Sega comic portraying Nintendo's mascots as bumbling comic relief isn't such a strange thing.
The Marxio Brothers were three
Electricians (a parody on the Mario Brothers being plumbers) who came from 'Marxio World', a place they are terrified of (most likely poking fun at the 'horror' of being in a Mario or Nintendo game and not a Sonic Universe) who became agents of Dr. Robotnik (See
Dr. Eggman) running his 'commercial ventures'.
They debuted running the Casnio Night Zone in 'Casino Night' (STC 18) where they were scamming Mobians using hypnosis to make them compulsive gamblers. In 'Carnival Night Conspiracy' (STC 39-44) the Brothers had another theme park, this time The Carnival Night Zone, being built on the Floating Island (
Angel Island) as another money-maker for Robotnik, initially managing to convince Knuckles Robotnik wasn't involved and that he could use the money from the Zone to renovate the older Zones on the island. The Guardian found them out anyway (due to Chicio's incompetance), and he split the Carnival Night Zone from the Floating Island to drop to Mobius below.
Following Robotniks' removal from power, the Marxio Brothers convinced the Mobian authorities that Robotnik had duped them and were able to buy the Chemical Plant Zone, with the intent of making it environmentally friendly. They called Sonic in because of a problem that they felt might cause the zone to detonate, which turned out to be Megatox; whether or not this was a deliberate trap for Sonic is left unknown, though the Marxio's denied it.
The Marxio Brothers also star in a series of Video Games (Sonic, STC 26 'I can't believe this new Marxio Brothers game, I mean who cares about the adventures of three electricians) in this universe
In the unofficial continuation of Sonic the Comic, only Chicio appears once in the May 2006 issue, he is on a T.V. as 2 villans are trying to gather information that Sonic is just a shell for Super Sonic (a demon in these comics). There was a small cameo before this Sonic, while travelling through a new Death Egg comes across a T.V. screen with the words "Super Marxio Sunshine" (an obvious pun on
Super Mario Sunshine) on it.
Tekno the Canary
A scientific genius and engineer, Tekno is one of the key Freedom Fighters on Mobius. While she possesses similar attributes to Porker Lewis, she is far more adventurous and spends her days building up a backlog of inventions for every eventuality & then seeking out chances to use them against villains in the field.
She was originally a weapons designer for Robotnik and was responsible for the creation of the super-alloy Megatel. When Robotnik caught her working against him by making anti-Badnik weaponry, he had her taken away to the Badnik Processing Plants; Shortfuse the Cybernik intervened to save her, and in exchange she helped him in a mission to bomb one of Robotnik's Chemical Plant Zone factories. Tekno would assist Shortfuse several times after this by giving him repairs and logistical support, and when Sonic was missing in the
Special Zone, she was introduced to the Freedom Fighters and allowed them to use her secret Emerald Hill Zone lab as their base.
When Robotnik was deposed, Tekno began teaming up more with Amy (and occassionally with Sonic) in keeping Mobius secure from the hordes of random criminals & nutters who were springing up. She also helped rescue Shortfuse from the Insectra Empire, visited Earth, and fought several times against the Doctor Robotnik Appreciation Tribe, Max Gamble, and the mysterious Agent X. Eventually she and Amy were sought up by the mysterious Eternity Ring, which sent them on missions to right wrongs & fight injustice throughout time and space, and she even witness the beginning of life on Mobius.
Eventually she & Amy returned to Mobius, and Tekno began assisting Sonic in investigating the
New Zones. Her final appearance in STC had her & the other Freedom Fighters attempting to stop Robotnik from draining the life-force from Mobius and causing a devastating environmental collapse.
Tekno was created and designed by Lew Stringer.
Megatox
Megatox was a scientist working for Robotnik on a chemical called Mega Mack, the pink liquid that floods the Chemical Plant Zone in
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and is designed to kill Sonic, but the compartment he was working in was flooded with the poisonous substance. By some quirk of fate the scientist, instead of dying, became one with the Mega Mack, and as Megatox he haunted the sewer systems of the Chemical Plant Zone. He faced Sonic early into the hedgehog's rebellion against Robotnik (issue 10); unable to defeat him with simple violence, Sonic drained him from the tunnels he was fighting him in and dispersed him over wasteland.
Megatox returned much later, when Robotnik had been overthrown and the Marxio Brothers had bought the Zone. The Marxios asked Sonic and Tails to check out strange happenings in the Zone, which turned out to be Megatox charging himself up to blow out of Chemical Plant and dump himself all over Emerald Hill Zone, leaving it uninhabitable. Annoyingly for Megatox, Sonic had forgotten who he was and even when he remembered he manages to get his name wrong. Megatox was more powerful now, able to change from liquid to solid state and back again. Sonic, despite being heavily poisoned by Mega Mack, deduces that Megatox has to be solid to hit him and manages to attack him a split second before contact. This defeated Megatox, and he was swept up and removed by the Marxios.
Megatox's last appearances was as one of the enemies that Robotnik, in his god-like state, resurrected to battle Sonic in
Showdown (issue 130).
Megatox can bend the Mega Mack around him to his will, shooting it at high pressure and splitting his consciousness into multiple Mega Mack 'bodies'.
Nigel Kitching once revealed that Megatox was only brought back at the request of his son.
Mesmer
Mesmer the Goat, was an agent working for of Dr. Robotnik (see
Dr. Eggman) with a 'talent for hypnosis'. He used a large staff with a ruby red jewel to control a whole village [unnamed] into thinking that they were worshippers of an Ancient Sun Goddess, as a test of his powers, in the
Knuckles the Echidna Story 'Village Of The Damned' (STC 85-86).
When Knuckles stumbled upon the village, Robotnik (watching from a disguise as a Tavern Landlord, a chicken) used the ruse as an attempt to kill the guardian, by having Mesmer convince the townspeople that they needed to sacrifice him to their god, shortly before being sacrificed Knuckles deduced what was happeneing and took Mesmer's staff from him, using it to break the spell.
Knuckles was, at the time, on a journy back from Mobius to the Floating Island, and after an explenation from Eggman left. Mesmer was never used again.
Note: though Knuckles used the staff, and Eggman revealed he intended to use Mesmer to control the whole populace of Mobius, the staff was never smashed.
Mr. Shifter
|
Mr. Shifter reveals himself. |
Mr. Shifter only appeared in one issue of Sonic The Comic, issue 87, where he was the main focus of the story
Mister Shifter (the most important occurrence in this story was the revelation to Robonik that Sonic was stuck in the
Special Zone at the time). A shape changer from the Black Zone, made of "Radioactive Meta-Clay", he had the power to stretch like rubber or become hard as rock.
Shifter was either a robber or assassin, and was caught by Sonic trying to shoot a young Mobian girl (in fact a spy for Robotnik investigating if the Special Zone was ripe for invasion). Cocky and arrogant, Sonic managed to defeat him by literally stretching him to his limit, then letting him go.
Porker Lewis
Porker Lewis was originally little more than a helpless
pig that Sonic freed from
badniks (and was the only Sonic character besides Sonic himself to appear in the first issue of the comic). However, he was quickly adapted into the technical expert of the team. It was later revealed that Porker had originally come from the
Special Zone, where he was known as Oscar, but that he had left his old life behind him when he fled from the Special Zone crimelord Hammerhead, who wanted him after he sabotaged their plans for a bomb (which Porker had unwittingly made).
The most prominent character development Porker saw during the comics was his encounter with the
Metallix, whereupon he found himself spending a month aboard the
Miracle Planet as a prisoner of the Brotherhood of Metallix. Porker suffered an emotional breakdown as a result and left the Freedom Fighters to go live in the Mushroom Hill Zone. He made sporadic appearances helping Knuckles with the ancient technology on the Floating Island, and late into the comic's run he would occassionally assist Sonic & the gang again, most notably against Chaos.
His name is likely parodying the popular comedy character
Parker Lewis.
Colonel Granite
A colonel in the British army, Percy Granite suffered from megalomanical tendencies and xenophobia - so it was an extremely bad situation when he ran into Amy Rose & Tekno, who had just been transported to Earth. He attempted to arrest them on grounds of being alien and discover how to get to Mobius, reasoning Earth had to attack it to be on the safe side; they were able to teleport back to Mobius, but Granite was able to commandeer the technology they used. Amy & Tekno encountered him again when sent via the Eternity Ring to 19th Century America; using time-travel technology, Granite was planning to conquer the 19th Century using 20th Century technology. When
that was thwarted, he finally turned to creating a dimensional gateway to Mobius and invading it. On New Year's Eve 1998, he went AWOL with an army regiment and invaded the Emerald Hill Zone, trouncing the Freedom Fighters with superior firepower and planning to sell off the conquered Zones to human industrial developers (and rename Mobius "Planet Percy"). He was finally defeated by a freak storm that took out his regiment and blew them back through the dimensional gateway to Earth, where he was arrested for war crimes on the orders of the Prime Minister - seemingly, the spirit of nature itself had fought back against Granite and his plans to destroy the ecosystem.
Sab
Sab was the leader of the freedom fighters group The Flock, based in The Chemical Plant Zone and against it's tyrannical overlord
Nutzan Bolt. She was one of the many sheep living in the Zone before it was turned into the Chemical Plant. She and her partner Sol Furic had fought side by side, until Sol defected to Nutzan Bolt thinking that the robot could be worked with to improve the Zone.
Sab first appearing in the second part of the Tails' story
Zonerunner and The Flock [issue 36]. It is she who dubs Tails a Zonerunner, a freedom fighter who travels between Zones fighting Robotnik; Tails has repeatedly protested against this but this has fallen on deaf ears. While a strong and capable leader, Sab seemed to fail to notice Tails actually only succeeded by accident throughout the whole story.
In Tails' next encounter with her, all of the Flock were thought to have been murdered in an explosion at the hands of Sol Furic. Sab had survived and, despite initial misunderstanding, it turned out Sol was innocent and wanted to turn against Nutzan. With Sab and Sol's help, Tails managed to destroy Nutzan Bolt for good, melting the chemical ice that had crippled the Chemical Plant Zone.
Sab & Sol were not used again, though the Chemical Plant Zone has reappeared several times; in its return appearances, it beared little resemblence to the Zonerunner stories.
Unlike the regular freedom fighters, who all appear in their teens, Sab and the Flock appear much older.
Shortfuse the Cybernik
Shortfuse the Cybernik is a
badnik character, who manages to regain his own self-awareness and declares his own personal war on Robotnik. Originally a belligerent squirrel known as
Shorty, he was captured by
Dr Robotnik and made the organic battery for Robotnik's prototype Super
Badnik, the squirrel-shaped Cybernik. However, he had damaged the console used to program the Cybernik armour beforehand, and this combined with his stubborn personality allowed him to easily resist his Badnik programming. Renaming himself Shortfuse, he decided to use his powers to fight against Robotnik in revenge for trapping him in the suit.
His armour is made of Megatal, an indestructible material comparable to the Marvel Universe's
adamantium. From this point on Shortfuse decided to battle alone, declining Sonics offer to join the Freedom Fighters. After one solo endeavor, Shortfuse manages to free Tekno the Canary, a former weapons designer for Robotnik (and creator of Megatel), who redesigns his armour and helped him blow up one of Robotnik's factories.
Shortfuse worked solo but was repeatedly drawn into battles alongside Sonic and the gang, assisting against the giant Mekanik and
Commander Brutus, and once battling with Knuckles over a misunderstanding and was temporarily brainwashed by Robotnik into fighting Sonic. During the time Sonic spent trapped in the
Special Zone, Shortfuse joined the Freedom Fighters to provide the muscle & a psychological boost that the group needed. However, his short temper affected the team and occassionally put them in danger; after a mission in which Shorty left Johnny Lightfoot in danger in order to battle rival Cybernik Vermin, Amy booted him from the Freedom Fighters. (He later reconciled with them)
After Robotnik was deposed, Shortfuse was left without a purpose and he had trouble adjusting to civilian life, his Cybernik state getting him fired from job after job. When the alien Insectra Empire contacted Mobius looking for a champion to help them against their evil enemies, he leapt at the chance; unfortunately, the alien war turned out to be a pointless, brutal waste of time and Shortfuse was brainwashed into continuing to help them. Amy & Tekno rescued him, and in the process he gained a program from a friendly alien race that allowed him to exit his suit for the first time. In the same story arc, Vermin broke free from his maximum security jail cell; in order to finally defeat him, Shortfuse was forced to sacrifice his freedom by giving the program to Vermin and then destroying the empty Cybernik armour from the inside.
After a few sporadic battles (such as against Agent X and Colonel Granite), Shortfuse went into his final battle against Robotnik & his attempt to drain Mobius's life energy until the planet suffered environmental collapse. Shortfuse comandeered the alien machine Robotnik was using, stopping him from using Mobius' life energy to give himself powers, and used it to reverse all the damage the villain had done. However, the feedback proved to be too much and destroyed his suit, finally freeing him and giving him his chance to be plain old Shorty the Squirrel.
In the online continuation of Sonic the Comic, Tekno designed a new suit for Shorty that could be activated at will via a special control belt. However, an unknown person was able to mentally control him through this suit and he began to kidnap random citizens from the Metropolis City Zone as part of a trap for Tekno. With her trapped, Shortfuse hacked the Eternity Ring and tried to access an unknown dimension. Tekno was able to deactivate his armour & save him but by accident, the deactivated armour hit the Eternity Ring and caused it to suck the two into a worm-hole. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
ART
One of Dr. Robotnik's most powerful creations, ART was developed for the purpose of defeating the Sonic Underground and their Freedom Fighter allies. Able to absorb any technology into his frame to increase in size and power, ART is a learning robot, capable of adapting to anything his opponents might deploy.
ART was sent to capture the Hedgehogs, going through several form changes as he attempted to abduct them. Despite managing to thwart him several times, the trio were caught by ART while rehearsing for a concert. However, ART had heard them play, and requested a song. The group obliged, and ART's free will was activated by the music, even leading him to play a keyboard similar to Sonia's.
ART then defected to the Freedom Fighters, using his impressive abilities to free prisoners and destroy SWATbots. However, he and the Hedgehogs were later caught in a crushing chamber. Using his strength, ART blasted a door so that his friends could escape, but he himself was crushed. However, he also served to inspire Manic, who at that time had been feeling as though the efforts against Robotnik were pointless.
Bartlby
Sir Bartlby of Dresdin is a posh
aristocratic mink and one the richest civilians of Robotropolis. He is Sonia's fiance. Pompous in every sense of the word, Bartlby loves nothing better than drinking rosebud tea and himself. He cares deeply for Sonia's welfare, but thinks her brothers are putting a bad influence on her. However, Bartlby and Sonic have had to join forces at times, including helping Sonia get to the
debutante ball. In
Bartlby the Prisoner, Bartlby was announced an enemy to Robotnik and was put on trial. He was purposely found guilty, thrown in jail and was scheduled to be roboticized, but the royal siblings helped him escape and he had to go into hiding to escape Robotnik's forces.
Cyrus
Cyrus is a friend of the Sonic Underground. He is a
lion and has a high IQ. He is very similar to
Tails as he is a mechanical expert, appears to be intelligent and can fly vehicles. He is also a great computer hacker and inventor. Cyrus secretly worked for Robotnik to prevent his father from being roboticized, but Robotnik back-stabbed by taking during the previous latter. Cyrus betrayed Robotnik and stayed loyal to the resistance, helping the hedgehogs in several of their missions.
Oracle of Delphius
An odd reptilian ant eater, the Oracle of Delphius' name is likely derived from the
Oracle of Delphi in Greek mythology.
The Oracle is a Mobian wizard, with multiple abilities such as conjuring and forsight. He is one of the resistance's most powerful allies, perfectly capable of withstanding an attack by numerous enemies. He serves to test Sonic, Sonia, and Manic as they struggle to end the war and find their mother.
Dingo
A big, stupid, orange creature, Dingo is the dimwitted partner of bounty hunter Sleet. His outward demeanor denotes a tough person but he is quite soft deep inside, in addition to being quite dumb. Hired by Robotnik to hunt down the royal family, Dingo develops a crush on
Sonia, which she often uses to her advantage. Dingo is also very gullible, doing generally whatever Sleet tells him on not understanding an insult or a part of a sentence. An example for Dingo's gullibility and just plain studpidity is when Sleet hunts down the
Queen Aleena ferry in Port Mobius. He succeeds in finding it using a submarine's pheroscope and declares it is a sitting duck, but Dingo gets the wrong end of the stick and asks why they are going to sink an innocent duck. Dingo's only real usefulness is in his odd ability to change shape. When Sleet presses the button on his remote, Dingo can turn into any solid object or lifeform. Such items he has disguised himself as include a chilli dog stand, a fly, a baby and even a woman!
|
Sleet (left), Robotnik (middle), and Dingo (right). |
Despite his incompetence, Dingo can be dangerous. While disguised, he can become a dangerous trap in waiting. On one occasion, he also absorbed the energies of a broken Chaos Emerald. This caused him to mutate into a giant monster who threatened to destroy the planet.
Sleet
A bounty hunter hired by Dr. Robotnik, Sleet's task is to hunt down the Sonic Underground band and their Freedom Fighters. A wolf with purple body armor and blue cape, Sleet's partner is the idiotic Dingo. Because of his partner's incompetence, Sleet often makes him into a scapegoat. Despite countless failures, Sleet does on occasion have a successful plan up his sleeve. Sometimes he and Dingo think of plans that make them turn on Robotnik, but these never go well.
Trevor
A
mouse who is a friend of the royal siblings and Cyrus. He dresses like a
hippy. He is an ace pilot and helps build and fix mechanical equipment. However, he can be easily captured and has been close to be roboticized before. He has appeared in several episodes to help the hedgehogs during some of the missions.
=Characters from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog=
Breezie
Breezie was a voluptuous
Hedgehog who first appeared in the episode "Lovesick Sonic", saved by Sonic, who fell in love with her. However, she was really a robot built by
Dr. Robotnik as a trap for the hero. Breezie however found she could not eliminate Sonic, caring too much for him. She also decided that despite these feelings, their relationship would not work. Breezie later fell in love with Robotnik Jr., another robot of Robotnik's (which, given that Robotnik created them both, could be seen as
incest).
Breezie's design resembles, very closely,
Jessica Rabbit's from the film
Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It was re-used for other female hedgehogs in the series.
Lucas and Lucinda
|
Lucas and Lucinda embrace. |
Lucas and Lucinda were teenaged lovers featured in the episode "Best Hedgehog". According to a flashback by Lucas shown within, they were lab partners in
high school; Robotnik, having unrequited romantic feelings for Lucinda himself, didn't take kindly to this. When he attempted to "take care of" Lucas using a robot snake and promise Lucinda "a quarter of everything [he would] plunder", it only got him expelled. After building his fortress, Robotnik imprisoned Lucas.
The episode opens with Sonic and Tails breaking into Robotnik's fortress thirty years later to rescue Lucas, who now resembles a walking haystack due to the fact that he's never had a haircut during his imprisonment. Furious with this, Robotnik orders
Scratch and Grounder to go recapture "that hairball", claiming that Lucas ruined
his romance with Lucinda. Robotnik is apparently in denial about what happened, as he later refers to Lucas as "Lucinda's true love" right in front of Scratch and Grounder, which causes some confusion to them as they still believe his earlier claim.
Lucinda, meanwhile, has been teaching a
kindergarten class in a nearby jungle - something that Robotnik is aware of (and surprisingly has never used to his advantage). Lucas and Sonic, on the other hand, do not know this until Grounder accidentally blurts it out to them. After recapturing Lucas and trying to trap him in a volcano, Robotnik heads for the schoolhouse to propose
marriage to Lucinda, not knowing that she's not there. Sonic tricks him by pretending to marry Robotnik himself (which can be seen as cleverly-disguised
homosexuality), during which Tails gives Lucas a haircut. Afterwards, Sonic gets Lucas to propose to Lucinda, and at their (quickie)
wedding, Sonic serves as the
best man (hence the episode's title).
It should be noted that, although Lucinda does look older in the present than in the flashbacks, she looks rather young for someone who is most likely in her 40's, and Lucas does not look any older in the present than he does in the flashbacks. Observant viewers will also notice that, while covered with his own hair, Lucas does not seem to be wearing a shirt, pants, shoes, or glasses; but after his haircut, he is suddenly dressed in all of those clothing articles without any explanation.
Miss Possum
A sweet (and short) lady possum, she was Sonic & Tails' friend in the town of Tranquil Gulch, who brought them to the town to sort out its problems there. Once they were cleared up, she was made Sherriff.
Miss Possum was a very stereotypical "good ol' gal from out west," the kind that can be found running brothels or singing in saloons in many Westerns. She bares a slight resemblance to
Dolly Parton.
Wes Weasely
Mobius's number one salesman/con artist. Wes Weasely is often recognized for his yellow suit and his merchandise of questionable quality. Being a salesman, Wes doesn't really care who's buying from him, so long as he gets his pay. He's quick to leave if things start going wrong however.
Robotnik despises Wes due to many of Wes's products backfiring on him. However, his minions continue to purchase from Wes, despite all the trouble that usually coincide with the products. One time, Coconuts went on a shopping spree and forwarded all of the payments to Robotnik without his knowing.
Prince Charnock and Splorg
|
Charnock (right) and Splorg. |
Prince Charnock and Splorg are special guest stars who appear in "Close Encounters of the Sonic Kind". Charnock is a green lizard-like alien with a squid-like head, while Splorg is a floating spectacled red blob resembling a red blood cell. Charnock is on vacation and seems to be a bit of an idiot, while Splorg is smart, pompous and arrogant. The two crash-land their ship on Mobius thanks to Robotnik's new Electro-Suction Plate, while on their way back to their homeplanet of Rhombus. Charnock is supposed to be crowned king of the planet in just two hours, but their ship is now in pieces. It also revealed that Charnock is on vacation, but if he cannot reach his coronation in time, his unamed baby brother will become king and destroy Mobius.
Sonic and Tails rescue the two from
Scratch and Grounder and help them locate the missing pieces of their ship. However, after Sonic finds most, the ship's two most important pieces are missing - the cockpit's pressurizing canopy and the naviagational nose-cone. The four head off to find them, quickly finding the cockpit canopy. Charnock is fascinated by the planet's nature but he nearly is eaten by a snake, steps into a river and falls down a cliff. During a landslide, the heroes and the robots accidentally mix up the ship's nose-cone for Grounder's nose. Sonic defeats Scratch and Grounder, but soon discovers Robotnik has Tails, Charnock and Splorg prisoner. Sonic gives himself up to save his friends and Mobius, and the aliens gets their nose-cone back. Charnock has one last trick up his sleeve, photographing Robotnik's hovercraft, but "accidentally" knocking over a giant rock that crushes Robotnik. The four race back to the spaceship and Charnock and Splorg head off to the coronation. Charnock also reveals before leaving that his baby brother is literally his baby brother - he's only two years old!
