A.D.A.M is a sentient computer virus created accidentally by Dr. Eggman. ADAM. has control over Eggman's computer and therefore every robot he owns; he can also spread to other computer systems that connect to Eggman's databases and control them as well, though this control can be compromised if ADAM. is distracted. Although he may seem at first to have a plain, overly proper manner, he does have a sense of humor. He once tried to take apart Bunnie Rabbot and integrating her into a small city composed entirely of nanites, but Sonic stopped him by convincing him that Bunnie's organic components would corrupt his software.
In recent issues, ADAM was revealed to "determine the movements" of the mysterious being known as Anonymous, who had for several months been manipulating events involvong the return of Mammoth Mogul and the villains subsequent alliance with Ixis Naugus, putting two contenders out of his strategy and leaving only Sonic and Eggman for termination. Precisely whether or not ADAM is Anonymous is not explicitly clear, but Anonymous has previously been represented by the shadowy profile of the original Dr. Julian Kintobor (the first Dr. Robotnik) - an image which also appears as the avatar on ADAM's screen.
ADAM is the second of Robotnik's creations to be named for figure from the Bible, the first one being EVE.
The father of Miles "Tails" Prower, Amadeus was Second-in-Command of the Royal Guard. He was thrilled at the idea of being a father, but his duty called him away when his wife Rosemary was about to give birth. Having to leave, he told Sonic the Hedgehog, who was a young kid playing nearby at the time, to keep an eye on his house, possibly leading to the friendship between Sonic and Tails. Amadeus' fate took a turn for the worse when he witnessed Dr. Robotnik, at that time Warlord Julian Kintobor, roboticizing someone. Taking it into his own hands to stop him, Amadeus was captured and roboticized.
The roboticized Amadeus was sent home, where he saw his newborn son. Stripped of emotion, he rejected the newborn, only for both himself and Rosemary to disappear. It was only years later that Sonic, on an exodus in space after being transported to another galaxy, ran into them on Argentium, homeworld of the Bem. As it turned out, the Bem scientist Ceneca 9009 had witnessed Robotnik's evil. She abducted Amadeus and Rosemary, and de-roboticized Amadeus. However, Ceneca's de-roboticizer had been outlawed, and thus she was arrested along with the two foxes. Sonic helped them escape, but they were forced to remain behind as Sonic departed for home on a stolen ship.
Amadeus and Rosemary have yet to return to Mobius. However, they sent with Sonic one thing: a watch made for Tails. When Tails received the watch, a hologram of his mother and father appeared. Amadeus encouraged his young son, and expressed the love he had never gotten a chance to while roboticized.
Fire ant master of the magician's art, Archimedes is the mentor of Knuckles the Echidna. The latest in a long line of fire ants, he is the descendant of Christopheles, mentor and friend to Edmund and Steppenwolf, the original Guardians. Archimedes, like his ancestors and the Guardians, is long-lived, having served as mentor to Knuckles and his father Locke, among others. Archimedes is also one of the few residents of Mobius proper in constant communication with the Brotherhood of Guardians.
Archimedes first appeared when Knuckles and the Chaotix were investigating the Grand Conservatory. Testing their skills, Archimedes proved quite an aggravation -as well as an asset- with his fire-breathing, teleportation, and survival skills. Cast out into the desert of Sandopolis, he teamed with Knuckles to get back to the Conservatory and beat Enerjak. Ever since then, he has been a friend and mentor to Knuckles and the Chaotix.
Archimedes is a valued member of the Fire Ant Council, the governing body of his people.
Arthur Mongoose is a fictional character appearing in the Archie Comics.
Not very much is known about Arthur. He is the father of Mina Mongoose and ended up noticing Mina's mother Isabella Mongoose one day when she was being chased by enemy soldiers known as overlanders. Arthur managed by using his sword to defeat all the overlanders and rescue Isabella. Later down the road, Isabella and Arthur would fall for one another, marry and have a daughter called Mina Mongoose in the year 3220 on October 11th. However, Arthur would end up dying, leaving behind his wife and daughter. Though they have not forgotten him, Mina brings him up occasionally whether when trying to be encouraged to do something heroic because of his heroic deed, or simply trying to wonder how love works and thus how him and Isabella noticed each other in that special way. Isabella, on the other hand, thinks more on the lines of how he would be like if he were here to see his daughter today, in her heart she mentally expressed how she feels he'd be proud of their daughter's achievements.
Ash Mongoose first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog #134. He is the manager and boyfriend of Mina Mongoose. Ash is very competitive with Sonic, partially because Mina and Sonic were romantically involved before Mina became famous. Ash appears to be cold, but Mina really does bring out a warmer side to him. He was initially going to wear tattoos, each tattoo symbolizing something special to him (one would probably be dedicated to Mina as well), however the idea of giving him a tattoo could be seen as a bit mature so the idea was slated. He was born in around the year 3217 and is 19 years old - purposely designed to be a much older love interest for Mina. Ash's own heroic side came into play when Mina was targeted by an assassination attempt by former Chaotix members, Heavy and Bomb. After Heavy had been defeated, only one bomb remained. Ash and Mina found it in her dressing room, and Ash risked his life by grabbing it and diving out the door. Ash was injured, and seemingly comatose. However, as Mina cried over his hospital bed, he awoke with a smile. To some fans, this event cemented Mina's relationship with him and put an end to Mina's position as one of Sonic's love interests. There are however still a number of fans who think that she said what she said out of guilt, due to the editor and her previous hesitation to deny her feelings for Sonic. Ash is not well liked among fans due to his hatred for sonic.
Bernadette Hedgehog, or Bernie for short, is the mother of Sonic the Hedgehog, wife of Jules Hedgehog, and sister-in-law of Charles Hedgehog. Bernie was absent in Sonic's life for many years, and it was only after Robotnik's demise at the hands of the Ultimate Annihilator that she and Jules came forward. As it turns out, Bernie had been roboticized by Robotnik, aided by the roboticized Jules. She pretended, at the time, that she had been messing around with a roboticizer and accidentally been roboticized.
Ten years later, Charles learned the truth after having his will liberated by Sonic. Restoring Bernie and Jules' wills, he formed a secret resistance among roboticizer victims. Bernie reunited with Sonic, and was quick to accept that in her absence Sonic had grown up. Like most of the Mobians, Bernie was de-roboticized by Ceneca 9009.
A Bem scientist from a distant galaxy, Ceneca 9009 was the first to invent a safe de-roboticizer. She developed this process to help the population of Biotex, whom were all metallic. Believing this condition unnatural, she used her device on them, only to discover an awful truth: The metallic physiology of the Biotexans had evolved as a defense against lethal microbes in their homeworld's atmosphere. Robbed of the their defense, the Biotexans died out, and the de-roboticizer was outlawed.
After the Bem conducted an experiment with Sonic, Tails, Snively, and Dr. Eggman, the entire Mobian population was roboticized. However, Ceneca 9009 reversed the process with her outlawed device, only to be sentenced to death. However, she was saved by Sonic the Hedgehog, and it was revealed that she had de-roboticized Amadeus Prower and abducted him and his wife Rosemary. Ceneca had hoped this would galvanize her people against Eggman, but instead she was imprisoned.
When Ceneca, Sonic, Amadeus and Rosemary needed to escape, the only vessel they had to take them to Mobius was a one-seater. Despite Sonic's protests, neither the Prowers nor Ceneca would board the vessel. So, they arranged a compromise: Sonic would take the ship back to Mobius. Since his existence was largely unknown to the Bem, they would assume that Ceneca had escaped. In turn, the Bem would not dare follow, out of fear of the dangerous Xorda. Ceneca, meanwhile, remained on Argentium with Amadeus and Rosemary, on the run but safe for the time being.
Sir Charles "Chuck" Hedgehog is a character from the SatAM and Archie Comics of Sonic the Hedgehog, and is Sonic's uncle. A knight of the Acorn Kingdom of Mobius, Chuck was unwittingly responsible for the rise of the planet's cruelest tyrant. The creator of the roboticizer, a process that turns flesh into metal, Charles hoped to use this technology as a means of curing the sick and allowing people to live longer but discovered to his horror that it robbed people of their free will when he tested it on his wounded brother Jules. The project was stolen by Warlord Julian Kintobor, who declared himself Robotnik and used it to enslave Mobians everywhere after taking control of the capital city Mobotropolis. Chuck was among the first to be roboticized. Years later, he regained his free will and was reunited with his nephew Sonic. He worked as a spy for the Freedom Fighters up until Robotnik's defeat.
After the war, Chuck became a member of the main group of Freedom Fighters. He serves as a technical expert, befriending Rotor and his assistant Tommy Turtle. Chuck has had few major roles to play recently, other than helping Sonic defeat a swarm of nanites and working towards a cure for the roboticized Jules.
Chuck also appeared in Sonic Underground as Sonic's adopted uncle. A member of the resistance and working with Sonic to destroy Swatbot factories, he was robotized in the first part of "Beginnings". Although he was robotized in both cartoon and comic, he returned to normal later in the comic series.
Either a Roboticized Mobian crocodile or a robot fashioned after one, Croc Bot is Robotnik's sub-boss in Downunda. Not surprisingly, Croc Bot is among the strongest of the underbosses, and is definitely the most evil, having planned to overthrow Robotnik and rule Mobius himself! His greatest foes are the Downunda Freedom Fighters and Tails, who teamed up to defeat him. In the process, Croc Bot became fused to his tank, causing it to replace his legs. He fell into the Downunda Crater, former site of the Floating Island.
It was later revealed that Croc Bot survived, building a prison camp in the crater. Backed by an army of Combots, he sought to regain control, only to be defeated again. This time, only the upper half of his body remained. Undaunted, he attached a mind control chip to one of the Freedom Fighters. This plan was foiled, and Croc Bot's remains were taken back to Robotropolis, only to be stolen by Snively and his cohorts.
Crocbot absolutely loathes Tails, whom he sees as being responsible for his disfigurement. Crocbot has stated that he would like nothing better than to slaughter Tails. He finally got rebuilt later on, as Croctobot, his lower half being replaced by fellow underboss Octobot (also featured in the Tails mini-series). When Sonic meets the robot, he can't stop laughing to the point where he is completely defenseless, calling him the "lamest...Badnik...EVER
!" (A nod to Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons.) Fiona Fox is watching from the distance and gets mad when Bean the Dynamite and Bark the Polar Bear walk by as if nothing's happening. Scourge the Hedgehog and Rouge the BatChaos Control to that area via the Master Emerald and Croctobot ensnares Sonic, Shadow and Scourge in his tentacles, telling Shadow he'll report the ultimate lifeform as a traitor, to which Shadow bluntly replies "No you won't" as, in a rare moment, he, Sonic and Scourge triple team the robot and destroy him again. Strangely, despite the fact that Crocbot and Octobot loath Tails, he is not the enemy they immediately seek to destroy.
Antoine D'Coolette's father, the General was a high-ranking officer in the Acorn Kingdom Army. He taught his son the art of sword-fighting, and Antoine's uniform once belonged to his father. Sadly, the General was called away by duty, and disappeared, presumed to be dead.
It was only when Sonic, seeking to defeat Robotnik's sub-bosses, arrived in the forest kingdom of Mercia, that he discovered the fate of the General. D'Coolette had been captured by Robotnik and roboticized, serving as the High Sheriff of the area and nemesis of Rob O' the Hedge. Sonic engaged the General in a failed attempt to jar his memory. Unaffected, the General drove Sonic and co. from the area.
Some time later, General D'Coolette's free will was restored. He reunited with his son Antoine, returning to his old home. However, one obstacle had to be overcome for the memory of the High Sheriff to be put to rest: that of his old foe, Rob. Unaware that the General did not remember his deeds as the High Sheriff, Rob remained in Knothole for some time, to see if his old enemy had really changed. The General proved true, and Rob even departed on good terms with him. As with the majority of Mobius' population, the General was de-roboticized by the Bem. He returned to duty in the army, but later fell ill, no doubt due to the machinations of Patch.
Dulcy is a female dragon from the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon and Archie Comics universes. Her full name is Dulcinea, and she goes by the nickname Dulce.
According to the cartoon, Dulcy is one of the only dragons left on Mobius due to mass Robotization of the species by Dr. Robotnik. She is part of a special class of dragons, known as a "protector," and has powers beyond those of normal dragons. Dulcy is the most powerful Freedom Fighter next to Sonic. However, due to her inexperience, she often does a poor job when it comes to landing. She occasionally gets disoriented, thinking that she's talking to her "ma" Sabina, is claustrophobic, and likes the color purple.
In the comics, Dulcy's role is differed slightly. Rather than being an orphaned dragon, Dulcy was one of a number that escaped Robotization under the leadership of an elder named Glint. They took refuge in the lost dragon civilization of Vesuvio, and were forbidden to go to the surface. Dulcy, too independent for her own good, snuck out and joined the Freedom Fighters. Upon discovering this, Glint banished her from Vesuvio and stripped her of the ability to breath fire.
Afterwards, Dulcy became a full-time Freedom Fighter. During her exile, she met and became mates with an Oriental dragon named Zan. However, he was abusive and racist against anyone who wasn't a dragon, and after his apparent death, she returned to the Freedom Fighters. Later, longing for her own kind, she returned to Vesuvio to ask for a pardon. However, she was followed by an attack force of Roboticized dragons. Thanks to her aid in repelling them, Dulcy was granted her fire breath back and was appointed Vesuvio's ambassador to the surface world.
As a dragon, Dulcy has varied abilities. She can of course fly, and can increase her speed by waving her tail behind her in a maneuver she calles "snapping the whip." She can breath fire or ice, and possesses the ability to see truth in others. Dulcy commands highly sensitive hearing, allowing her to detect ultrasonic whistles like those Sonic can produce.
A yeti who befriended Nate Morgan, Eddie lived in the northern regions of Mobius. When Nate came upon Eddie, he was seriously injured and in danger of dying. Nate saved his life through the use of cyborg components. Eddie became Nate's close companion and protector. However, their happy life ended with the return of Ixis Naugus. In the ensuing battle between Naugus, Sonic, and Tails, Nate's castle collapsed. Eddie managed to save his friends, but at the cost of his own life.
A bio-mechanical lifeform created by Dr. Robotnik with the intention of destroying Sonic. EVE was developed using DNA from both the mad doctor and his Hedgehog foe. With the ability to adapt rapidly to any situation and change form, EVE was almost able to accomplish her primary function. However, EVE became too developed to obey Robotnik anymore, and fled Mobius, seemingly killing Robotnik but in fact masking his teleportation to an orbiting satellite.
During his journey in space, facilitated by the destruction of the Xorda Quantum Dial, Sonic found EVE again. Using her powers, she had set about ravaging various planets, absorbing their raw materials into her structure. However, Sonic convinced her that she was doing the wrong thing. EVE then told Sonic of a way he could get home just before activating her self-destruct sequence and flying into the nearest star. *EVE is the first of Robotnik's creations to be named from the Bible, the second being ADAM.
Fiona Fox is a vixen found exclusively in the Archie Comics series. She has fiery orangish red fur with cream to yellow trim; her brown hair used to be parted with a yellow bow, but in recent appearances, she has taken on a variety of outfits in the series, most neglecting the trademark bow.
Fiona was introduced very early on, not as the character herself, but as a robotic duplicate of her, constructed by Dr. Robotnik to trap Miles "Tails" Prower. Robotnik's plan nearly worked, as Tails fell in love with the duplicate, but he figured out the plan and escaped with nothing more than a broken heart. It was more recently discovered that the robot was based on a real, flesh-and-blood Fiona Fox, who has joined up with the Freedom Fighters. Beforehand, however, Fiona was trapped in Robotnik's base with Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Squirrel and she says that Sonic turned up, but did not save any of them. Tails seems to have a bit of a crush on her, but has trouble expressing his true feelings to her. But Fiona is several years older than Tails' and regards him as a little kid; as a result, she has been accused of ignoring Tails' feelings, and only caring for herself. Revealed in issue #153, she seemed to have a grudge against Sonic; she thinks he is selfish for abandoning her with Eggman, however...
According to Ken Penders, Sonic and Fiona embraced (although the silhouette is very deceptive) and Tails accidentally finds out. It is at this point where Tails explains to Fiona that he's cared about her robotic duplicate, and as a result hoped they would have a future. Fiona in response to what Tails says, explains that she likes older guys around her age (like Sonic or Mighty?) This prompts the young fox to scream "I HATE YOU
!" at Sonic; it is unknown what long-term effect this will have on Sonic's and Tails' friendship. Currently, (according to Ken Penders as well) Fiona and Sonic despite popular beliefs, are not dating. Fiona simply asked where they were regarding a relationship, and Sonic said there wasn't any need to rush things (which doesn't seem to be like Sonic at all, but he is very careful when it comes to romance...) This was to indicate (...again according to Penders), that Sonic desires Fiona as a friend right now. (Obviously, Mr Penders did that after an outburst of angry fans complaining about pairing Sonic up with other female characters too much.) In the fandom Fiona seems to be hated for breaking Sonic's and Tails' friendship; however, Fiona did not know Tails was in love with her. Sonic, on the other hand, had known that very well, Sonic also made sure Tails wouldn't date Fiona on the story Target because it, to him, was an awkward moment. It is still unknown why Sonic suddenly give this kind of attention to Fiona.
Despite the situation right after Ken left, Sonic and Fiona are now currently dating which is shown around issue#161 during Sonic's 18th birthday.
The head politician of the Echidna city, Albion, Gala-Na has the best interests of her people at heart but goes about things the wrong way. She was extremely angry with the Brotherhood of Guardians when they refused to move the populace of Echidnaopolis to Albion, which she proposed in the hopes that the Echidna people would be made whole. She also had the High Sheriff brought to Albion to be disassembled, but he was saved by a team led by Knuckles the Echidna. Because she feared Knuckles' growing Chaos powers, she attempted to have them forcibly removed after having Nic and Nack the Weasels capture him. However, the process was tampered with by Charmy Bee and his fiancee Safron, who couldn't believe that Echidnas outside the Dark Legion were hurting Knuckles on purpose. Thus, Gala-Na's foolishness only resulted in alienating Knuckles and his allies, as well as making his abilities stronger than they were before.
Isabella Mongoose is the mother of Mina Mongoose. While being pursued by hostile overlanders, she caught the attention of another Mongoose, known as Arthur Mongoose who protected Isabella and eventually married her. Unfortunately, Arthur later died and left behind his wife and child. From then on, Isabella raised Mina as a single parent, until Eggman came and captured both her and her daughter. While Mina daughter was rescued and suffered survivor's guilt, Isabella ended up not being rescued and was soon roboticized. However, due to the sword of Acorns, her freedom was restored while she was roboticized. Later, Isabella was derobotized.
Isabella can be a rather rational character and is very loving towards her daughter Mina. She provides words that can be used to advise other characters such as Mina or say Sonic but sometimes her wise words are either ignored, not taken seriously enough, or misinterpreted. Isabella holds pride in her daughter, especially in her singing talents but can at times wishes to curb her daughter's "sometimes" hasty courses of action because it can hurt her in the future. But like many parents, Isabella has to keep being reminded she cannot always protect her precious daughter, no matter how much she wants to.
Sonic's father, Bernadette's husband, and Charles' brother, Jules is the first Mobian in history to go through the roboticizer. Jules had been badly injured in the Great War between Mobians and Overlanders, and Charles put him in the machine to save his life, unaware that Dr. Robotnik had altered the machine. Losing his free will, Jules was made into a mindless tool that Robotnik had the audacity to manipulate into roboticizing Bernie.
Ten years later, Jules' free will was restored by his brother Charles. He rejoined his wife and they helped the Mobian resistance against Robotnik. With Robotnik's demise, Jules met his son for the first time in years. Unfortunately, Jules is having a rough time being a father, as his brother Charles is Sonic's established father figure. Jules seems to have all the rotten luck, as when the Mobians were all de-roboticized, he was the only one who remained in a mechanical state â€" excluding Bunnie Rabbot, who had previously replaced her roboticized parts for regular cybernetics for health reasons. Sonic found out that due to his injuries sustained before being roboticized, de-roboticizing Jules would prove fatal.
Half-brother of Knuckles, son of Lara-Le and Wynmacher, Knecapeon goes by the nickname Kneecaps. Knuckles is rather put off by his new baby brother, for several reasons: his horrible name and habit of hitting Knuckles on the head with his rattle. Kneecaps is a rather stereotypical infant: he loves his rattle - and hitting Knuckles with it - speaks in baby gibberish that most people do not understand, and is inseparable from his mother. Despite his tendency to his Knuckles with his rattle, he seems genuinely fond of his older sibling.
In Mobius: 25 Years Later, he is understandably more mature, about 25 at the time of the story. He also goes by the more mature name Mace.
A powerful lion, Kodos once served as the Minister of War in the Kingdom of Acorn. For unexplained reasons, this battle ax wielding warrior despised Overlanders, particularly Nate Morgan. Allying himself with Ixis Naugus, the Royal Wizard of that time, Kodos arranged for Nate to be forced into exile. However, Kodos found himself toppled by Dr. Robotnik, who trapped him in the Zone of Silence along with Naugus, taking over as Minister of War. The irony was that Kodos showed Robotnik the entrance, trying to recruit the Overlander to his side!
Without anyone else to turn to, Kodos pledged loyalty to Naugus, serving as his enforcer alongside Uma Arachnis. He quickly amassed a collection of grudges towards both Robotnik and Sonic and Sally. Kodos escaped the Zone of Silence with Uma and Naugus, but was exposed to pollution from Robotropolis. He fell into a ravine, and seemingly perished either from the fall or from the poison of Robotropolis.
Mother of Knuckles the Echidna, Lara-Le did not figure prominently in his life until years after his birth. Wife to the Guardian Locke, Lara-Le became furious with her husband when she realized what he had done to their son. Divorcing Locke, she intended to leave with Knuckles, but was forced to give him up. When Knuckles grew old enough to question her absence, Locke simply replied that she was gone.
Later, when Echidnaopolis was restored, Knuckles met his mother for the first time. He grew to love her, and the only bit of contention he felt was when she remarried to an Echidna named Wynmacher. Later, Lara-Le became pregnant with Knuckles' half-brother, Kneecapeon Mace, otherwise known as Kneecaps or Mace.
According to Knuckles' Archie character profile, Lara-Le is from the House of Arian, presumably a family in Echdinaopolis named for a historically important ancestor.
A female Echidna of the Lost Tribe of Albion, Mari-An first appeared when the tribe arrived in Mercia. To her shock, Mari-An discovered that her brothers, Zax and Raynor, had disappeared. Accompanying Knuckles the Echidna, she set out to find them. The two later split up, and upon their reunion, Knuckles was accompanied by Rob O'The Hedge.
Rob and Mari-An's similar personalities led them to fight atop a log over a nearby river, clearly based on the story of Robin Hood's initial meeting with Little John. Mari-An soundly defeated Rob, and the two fell in love. Meeting up with Sonic and Tails, the quintet worked together to save the Tribe from slavery and guide them to Albion. After that, Mari-An decided to remain in Mercia with Rob, whom she later married with the complete approval of her parents. The two later had a child. *Mari-An's name is clearly a pun of Maid Marian, the romantic interest of Robin Hood, with Rob and Mari-An serving as an Archie parody to the classic story.
Mecha is one of Dr. Robotnik's creations created while Sonic was still in outer space and everybody thought he was dead. Mecha is designed after a female, and is referred to by Eggman as his 'daughter'; unlike Robotnik's previous creations, Mecha has much more fighting abilities than any of Robotnik's creations ever had. Sonic and Mecha Duked it out at the docks of Eggman's newest city Megapolis. Bunnie Rabbot knocked Mecha into a building and destroyed her skin coating, leaving her with only a metallic skeletal form similar in appearance to the T-X from the Terminator movies, and this made her very angry. Sonic and friends were able to dump Mecha into the sewers; this short circuited her now-exposed systems. It is revealed in a later issue that she survived her encounter with Sonic and it has been revealed that her loyalties lie with someone else. Eventually, she was ordered to self-destruct by Eggman when A.D.A.M. revealed that she was working with Anonymous in issue #163.
Tails' uncle and Amadeus' brother, Merlin is, as his classic name would suggest, a wizard. He was formerly the chief wizard in the Kingdom of Acorn, but hid himself away. Merlin's connection to Tails is never established, as those who meet him either don't know about his last name or don't know about Tails' real name, as in the case where he was met by Knuckles. Due to his wizard status, it is likely that he has an unpleasant history with Ixis Naugus.
Merlin is a charlatan, for the most part uninvolved with the rest of Mobius. Predictably, he is aware of Athair and the Ancient Walkers, and knows of Tails' destiny as the Chosen One. Being a sorcerer, and a rather powerful one at that, he possesses abilities that even his nephew, Knuckles, and Sonic do not know of.
It is only recently that Tails even learned of his existence, through Athair before his final showdown with Mammoth Mogul took place. Whether they will ever meet his parents is unknown as of now. However, Merlin has come to live in the Kingdom of Acorn, and with Tails hopes to rebuild their family. He came bearing the emerald containing Mammoth Mogul, but unfortunately, it fell into the wrong hands. Mogul escaped, the Ancient Walkers were killed, and Merlin was knocked unconscious. To make up for his failure, he has joined forces with the Freedom Fighers, and was also selected by the Walkers to be one of their successors, along with Athair and Aurora.
A prehistoric cave-bear. He was frozen in ice for thousands of years until Antoine accidentally discovered him. Mobie was thawed out and lived in Knothole Village briefly, where he communicated to the Freedom Fighters through paintings. However, adjusting to the civilized life proved too much for Mobie and he ended returning to the wild. Mobie is also shown in a flashback of Mammoth Mogul's, where it is revealed that he was one of the ones who forced Mogul into exile prior to the formation of the Order of Ixis.
Muttski is Sonic's loyal pet dog, who like Uncle Chuck was roboticized prior to Sonic joining the Freedom Fighters. Muttski was one of Sonic's more feared antagonists, because Sonic did not wish to harm his faithful pet. Eventually, Muttski was freed from Robotnik's control, and took up residence in Knothole, once again becoming Sonic's close companion. Like all of the roboticized Mobians except Jules Hedgehog and the partially roboticized Bunnie Rabbot, Muttski was deroboticized by the Bem. An interesting development: during Sonic's time spent in space (six weeks to him, a year to everyone else) he received an implant that allowed him to understand and speak to aliens. Back home, the implant now allows him to speak with Muttski and understand what he's saying. Muttski's abilities are those of the average dog, though his speed and strength were enhanced by his robotization. Muttski's closest friend besides Sonic is the hedgehog's adoptive "brother" Tails. This is proven true when the two spend a day together.
Nathaniel "Nate" Beauregard Morgan, in the series by Archie Comics, is an elderly plot device met by Sonic and Tails during their quest to defeat Ixis Naugus. After this goal was accomplished, Nate traveled with Sonic and Tails back to Mobotropolis, where it was revealed that he was an old friend of the royal family. When Dr. Eggman took his predecessors place, Nate's expertise in science proved valuable to the Freedom Fighters on many occasions. Nate was roboticized, causing him to become immobile. He was in Robotropolis during its destruction and likely perished.
Nate was originally intended to be a regular in the Saturday morning cartoon, but was removed later on in production.
NICOLE is a sentient, portable computer, owned by Princess Sally Acorn. NICOLE is from the future, repaired by Rotor and sent back in time by Queen Sally and King Sonic (an ontological paradox). Because she was from the future, NICOLE was designed with a firewall to prevent the Freedom Fighters from learning about the future. She is highly technical, and is continually frustrating Sonic with her constant technobabble. Despite this, NICOLE is considered to be a valued member of the Freedom Fighters.
In one issue, a chemical accident caused NICOLE and Sally to switch bodies for a temporary period, during which NICOLE felt what it was like to be a true living being. After the effects were reversed, she attempted to create a realistic body in the form of a Lynx, but failed as it consumed too much power. (Inner gamer circles question whether the animal form depicted by Archie was a bit of a joke since NICOLE is a handheld computer, and the "Lynx" was a handheld game system).
Most recently, NICOLE among other characters with robotic parts were invaded with Eggman's Nanites. They appear to have an intelligence purpose as they can transmit all data they acquire directly to Eggman.
Far beneath the surface of the Great Mobian Ocean rests an underwater bot base - home of the malicious Octobot, a giant blue mech squid that serves as one of Robotnik's underbosses! In fact, Octobot's existence under the seas would have remained unknown to the Freedom Fighters had Tails not encountered him during the maiden voyage of the Sea Fox. Octobot hates Tails with a passion almost as strong as Crocbot and would also gladly kill him for virtually ruining his many plans. Discovering the underwater roboticisation factory once manned by Jaws (One of the badniks from Sonic 1), Tails destroyed the submerged base and left Octobot a complete laughing stock among the Bot community. However what Tails didn't know was that Octobot wanted revenge - and while on a mission to prove himself in Downunda, Octobot scuttled the Sea Fox by puncturing it with his drill tentacles and dragged Tails beneath the ocean in an attempt to drown him. Tails was rescued by The Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters - a group of underwater FF's and later saved, but Octobot's fate during the rescue? Crushed flat beneath the massive weight of their largest member - Fluke The Blue Whale. Octobot survived the incident - though completely flat.
Octobot than reappeared at the end of issue #161 - Where he had since become attached to the leftovers of Downunda-comrade Crocbot - now called Croctobot. Oddly, the two mutual Tails haters did not go after the two-tailed fox, but instead grabbed Sonic, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Scourge the Hedgehog. In a rare moment of cooperation, all three Hedgehog rivals worked together to defeat the two yet again.
Chief Constable of the Echidna Security Team (EST), Remington is just below Knuckles in maintaining law on Angel Island. Remington is the one Knuckles turns to when his usual methods don't work, and Remington's investigative resources have been helpful in the past. Because of his position, Remington most often finds himself pitted against the Dark Legion, whom he has quite a connection to. Unbeknownst to him, Remington is the son of former Grand Master Kragok, which would make him the nephew of Lien-Da and Julie-Su. Technically, this also makes him a distant relative of Knuckles.
Remington, like many heroes of the Sonic universe, has been paired up with a love interest: his girlfriend, Komi-Ko. Remington was unwilling to believe that Knuckles had come back from the dead, but that changed after his team inspected Knuckles' grave, which was found to be empty. Remington's world came crashing down when his longtime enemies, the Dingoes, teamed up with Dr. Robotnik. Remington was held in prison, broken out by Knuckles and the Chaotix only to be imprisoned again by Robotnik, while everyone believed him to be dead.
Rob O' the Hedge is a minor character in the Sonic the Hedgehog series universe, appearing as the cousin of heroine Amy Rose. Similar to (or rather, a parody of) Robin Hood, Rob O' the Hedge hides in a forest and poses resistance to Antoine's roboticized father, a despot who lives in a castle and oppresses the citizens of the area. Rob appears to be similar in appearance to Sonic, despite the fact that they are not related.
Rob appears several times in the storyline, usually getting involved with members of the Freedom Fighters or the Chaotix. He also harbored a deep hatred for Antoine's father, General D'Coolete. This was completely unwarranted, as the General had regained his free will and could not even remember being the enemy of Rob. After a while, Rob reconciled, and even departed on good terms with the General.
Rob later accompanied Knuckles the Echidna and the Lost Echidna Tribe to Albion. Along the way, he met Mari-An, a female Echidna who was very similar to him in personality. The two bickered, ending in a fight on a nearby log over a creek, similar to the story of how Robin Hood met Little John. Rob was knocked into the creek, and when the two again met eyes, it was love at first sight. The two became married, Rob's only warning from Mari-An's parents being to take care of her, and live in Mercia guarding the entrance to Albion. They also have a child.
Like Amy of the Fleetway comics, Rob is a skilled archer, wielding the Robin Hood-style bow and arrows.
Mother of Miles "Tails" Prower, Rosemary is married to Amadeus. During Robotnik's initial takeover, she was pregnant with Tails. While she was giving birth, Amadeus was Roboticized. Under Robotnik's command, Amadeus went to his wife and newborn son. Stripped of free will and emotion, he rejected the infant, leaving Rosemary to cry herself to sleep. Later, Roesmary herself was abducted, and likely would have suffered Robotization.
However, Rosemary was saved when she and Amadeus were teleported to a Bem ship under the command of Ceneca 9009. The Bem scientist de-roboticized Amadeus, and took the two before the Bem Council on Argentium to plead for Bem action against Robotnik. The plee was denied, and Ceneca was imprisoned for use of her outlawed De-Roboticizer.
Sonic later met Rosemary and Amadeus during his six week journey through space. After helping Ceneca 9009 escape, the group was left with a one-person craft. Refusing to leave her husband behind, Rosemary remained on Argentium as Sonic returned to Mobius. However, she and Amadeus recorded a message for their son into a watch that Sonic delivered to Tails some time after his return.
A character introduced in the Mobius: 25 Years Later story, Rutan is the son of Lien-Da. As a result, he is cousin to Lara-Su and Constable Remington and nephew to Kragok, Julie-Su, and Knuckles the Echidna. It is unknown who his father was.
Rutan is a troublemaker, not surprising considering his family's past. He doesn't get along well with Lara-Su, and his mother constantly gets on his case. To top it off, Rutan has a relationship with Espio's daughter Salma. Rutan was also the first to alert his mother to a planned alliance between Echidnaopolis and Knothole concerning the timestream collapse.
SWATbots firing laser weapons on the SatAM cartoon
The SWATbots are humanoid robotic shock troopers from the SatAM and Archie comicsSonic the Hedgehog series continuities. Designed by Warlord Julian Kintobor (who would later become the evil Dr. Robotnik) for use during the Great War, early SWATbot units were initially under the control of the Kingdom of Acorn, but were reprogrammed when Julian rechristened himself Dr. Robotnik and took near total control of Mobius in the year 3224. Years later, Robotnik programmed all SWATbot units with the code "Priority One", which ordered them to specifically pursue the Mobian rebel Sonic on sight, who became the dictator's arch-nemesis.
A bulkier, more formidable SWATbot breed exists in the TV series Sonic Underground. They come in several variations, use multiple vehicles, and all have orders to capture Sonic and his siblings. However, these SWATbots are incredibly inefficient, being vulnerable to water and having an easily accessed control panel on their arm.
In the Archie Comic Series there are supposedly improved models of SWATbots called Shadowbots, created by Robo-Robotnik (Dr. Eggman as he is referred to now). Eggman claims they are superior to their predecessors, but a past conflict between the original Robotnik's SWATbots seemed to prove otherwise. Shadowbots usually sport a metallic black color, much like their SatAM cousins. The Delta-class Shadowbot was soon replaced by a larger, more destructive model dubbed the Gamma-class Shadowbot. Eggman has unleashed what he calls "SWATbot Mk IIs" as of late, but so far there do not appear to be any major improvements made over the Gamma-class.
Combots
The Combots are superior versions of the SWATbot model. Far more intelligent and capable of camoflauge, they are the ultimate military robots. Many are in service to Crocbot, the sub-boss of Downunda. They despise the inferior SWATbots, one of the few signs of open intelligence among Robotnik's robot army.
He was a friend that the Freedom Fighters had believed dead until recently. Sonic found that he was in the company of several villains, who were working for Dr. Robotnik. After Robotnik betrayed the villains, Tommy apparently gave his life to save Sonic. However, a year later, Sonic and company met an identical turtle claiming to be Tommy. They trusted "Tommy" until he was exposed as an evil robot, called an infiltrator. Inspection of the robot suggested that the actual Tommy was alive and in the clutches of Robo-Dyne Systems. Once they rescued Tommy, he became a member of the Brain Trust portion of the Freedom Fighters. He is good friends with Rotor Walrus. He is one of the few Freedom Fighters to call Tails "Miles", because he knew Tails when he was very young, but not while he was growing up. In the recent comic, his shell was infected by nanites, so he has bionic powers.
Although Tommy's original appearance was well-received, after his reappearance he has gained a very negative reputation among fans.
A female ninja spider who served Ixis Naugus, Uma Arachnis met Naugus in the Zone of Silence. With all the abilities of both a spider and a ninja, she proved quite dangerous. Often silent, even other villains found her confusing. Uma worked alongside Warlord Kodos until both died from exposure to Robotropolis pollution. However, Uma's legacy lives on in the form of her children, the Arachne, an army of spider ninjas who serve Ixis Naugus. The Arachne have been distinguished as villains due to being entrusted with the Sword of Acorns after it tried to possess Sally. Due to Ixis' alliance with Mammoth Mogul, it is likely that the Arachne now serve Mogul as well.
A resident of Echidnaopolis, Wynmacher is Lara-Le's second husband and Knuckles the Echidna's stepfather. Despite the mild tension caused by his mother remarrying, Knuckles has no ill feelings towards Wyn, and Wynmacher has no problems at all towards his stepson and his wife's former in-laws. Wynmacher and Lara later had a son, Kneecapeon Mace, Kneecaps for short, and in the dark days of Robotnik's domination, the three are inseparable. Wyn is also a fanatic when it comes to the prophecy of the Avatar, whom the general populace of Echidnaopolis believe is Knuckles. This leads Wyn to constantly call Knuckles "Avatar," despite Knuckles' protests.
Despite his aristocratic appearance, Wyn is not afraid to do work. He helped Knuckles subdue a group of Dingoes holding him and Lara hostage during Echidnaopolis' return to Mobius proper. When Knuckles complimented his tackle, Wyn replied, "I played varsity!" This skill, along with his cooking expertise, came from his college days.(Keeping up with many other Star Wars references in the archie comics, Wyn wears an outfit similar to Darth Vader, sans the helmet)
A red Oriental Dragon, Zan is the mate of Freedom Fighter ally Dulcy. Unlike his green winged companion, however, Zan is incredibly violent, deploying his fire breath and powerful body against virtually anything that makes him mad, including Dulcy herself. Zan also considers all other races of Mobius to be his enemies, as demonstrated by his attacks on the City of the Ancients. Due to these attacks, the inhabitants of the city called in Sonic and the Freedom Fighters. After a battle with Sonic at his lair on Pyro Island, Zan seemingly perished.
