Murray Cook

Murray Cook

Murray Cook (born June 30, 1960 in Cowra, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as a member of the children's band The Wiggles.

Cook finished his secondary schooling in the southern suburbs of Sydney in the 1980s. Afterwards he was a clerk in the Australian Taxation Office and played in a Sydney-based rock band called Finger Guns.

As a member of the Wiggles Cook wears a red shirt and serves as an instrumentalist and backup vocalist. He occasionally sings lead vocals and employs falsetto techniques in some Wiggles songs. His schtick is an obsession with playing the guitar.

Cook is a "full honorary member" of the Sydney-based band Bang Shang a Lang[1] and plays with them when he is in Sydney.

Cook's family has a background in law enforcement. His father, Russell, was an assistant commissioner with the New South Wales Police Service. Cook's sister Fiona is also a police officer.

Cook is married to Meg Munro. The couple have two children, Hamish and Georgia.
