Olivia Lewis

Olivia Lewis' is a singer from the island of Malta. She is a resident singer for a popular television program. Despite her young age, Olivia Lewis has quickly established herself as being one of the leading Maltese artists on the island. The versatility of her voice enabled her to interpret various musical styles which vary from Pop to Rhythm and Blues and Jazz. Olivia started her musical career at an early age. Since her early teens she has been involved in musicals, festivals and anything that has to do with singing. Her success in festivals at such an early age is highlighted by the hundreds of trophys she now possesses and cherishes as part of her early career. However, Olivia's career took an unexpected turn when she discovered her love of soul, jazz and r&b. Her voice is one of the most soul-oriented voices on the island and her interpretation of this kind of music is impeccable.

This has placed this talented artist as one of the top artists on any jazz player's wishlist. In fact, a couple of years ago, Olivia became the first female artist to perform during the prestigious Malta Jazz Festival together with the Paul Giordimaina jazz trio. Her performance was the opening event of this year's Jazz Festival, and many ardent jazz followers were impressed by her voice, her interpretation and her obvious love for the music. For the past years Olivia has also tried her luck at the Song for Europe Festival, which eventually leads to the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song ‘Starting Over' written by Paul Abela and Georgina Abela proved to be a hit especially with the younger generation.

2004 and 2005 have been extremely successful years for Olivia. In 2004 she placed second in the Song for Europe festival with the highly acclaimed song ‘Take a look' written by Paul Giordmaina and Fleur Balzan. Recently, in this year's festival (2005) she placed second once again with the song ‘Deja' Vu' written by Philip Vella and Gerard James Borg. Olivia narrowly missed the top spot and gained more than 11,000 votes in the nationwide televoting. Olivia regularly takes part in the International Festival of the Maltese Song, always getting good results by finishing third in the last two editions of the festival.Olivia's international appearances during festival have been a huge success. She performed during the Lithuanian National Song Festival and the Bulgarian Song Festival. Olivia won both festivals to the acclaim of the general public present for these two festivals.
