Paiania

Paiania (Greek: Παιανία), also sometimes called Paeania or Peania, is a town in Greece east of Mount Hymettus and Athens and is a suburb of Athens. It has a population of approximately 11,000. Until the late 20th century, the area was known as Liopessi. Half of the municipality and the western part is the rocky landscape of Mount Hymettus.

Paiania has schools, a lyceum, a gymnasium, banks, a post office and squares (plateies).

Agriculture was probably the dominant industry from the 5th century until the 20th century. Currently, the largest facility is a Greek television broadcasting building privately owned by Teletypos or Telepress and sometimes Buena Vista is Mega Channel which is located in the east. It is connected with GR-91, Attiki Odos (GR-91), Spata, and Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.
