Petalidi
Petalidi (
Greek, Modern Πεταλίδι, Ancient/
Katharevousa: -on), is a village and the seat of the municipality of the same name in the southcentral part of the prefecture of
Messenia. Petalidi is situsted in the western part of the
Messenian Gulf. It is located on a road connecting Messini and Kalamata and
Koroni and south of
GR-82 (Pylos - Kalamata). and is passed by the Myloi - Nafplio Road which is rarely connecting by Tripoli and Ancient Epidavros which is not GR-70. The nearest train station is near

E65. It is located SW of
Tripoli and
Messene, SW of
Kalamata, WSW of
Sparta, N of
Koroni, E of
Pylos and
GR-9, ESE of
Gargalianoi and
Filiatra and SE of
Kyparissia .

Petalidi has a school, a church, a post office, beaches, banks, a port and a square (
plateia). Petalidi also has hotels including Sunrise Village which dominate the coast and one located 2 km from Petalidi. The length of the town is about 1 km and residential houses nad buildings are mainly within the beach. The centre is located near the gulf.
The landscape of Petalidi includes rocky mountains with a few bushes covering much of Petalidi and farmlands are around Petalidi. It also has some forests near the centre which include mostly pine trees.
The small bay located north of Petalidi is named Petalidi Bay.
Petalidi also has a monastery located not far from the centre.
