Polskie Koleje Państwowe (Polish State Railways, PKP) SA is a dominative company in PKP Group. PKP SA has 100% share control in all companies in PKP Group and is fully responsible for managing them.

The company was founded in 2001 after dividing Polskie Koleje Państwowe (all-national rail operator) into several dozens companies to meet European Union standards.

All other companies belonging to the group are dependent on PKP SA, but the plans of privatisation are in progress.

Total length of rails in Poland, which are managed by PKP, but owned by the state is 23429 km.
