Revival of Evangelion
Revival of Evangelion (Revival of Evangelion: Death(true)
2/Air/γΎγ"γ"γγ'γεγ«, Revival of Evangelion: Death(true)
2/Air/Magokoro o, Kimi ni) is a concatenation of the
Neon Genesis Evangelion movies
Death(true)2 and
The End of Evangelion. It is considered the final form of the
Evangelion movies, which were released in several forms prior to
Revival.
The first part, Death, was originally released as part of
Evangelion: Death and Rebirth which itself consisted of two parts. The first part,
Death, consists of a 60-minute edit of the
Neon Genesis Evangelion television show, including redone scenes and several new scenes. The version used in
Revival, called Death(true)
2 is a re-editing of Death without the new scenes (which were added to the Director's Cut of the television series) and a few minor changes. The second half, Rebirth, consisted of the first part of
The End of Evangelion, the second
Evangelion movie.
The second part of
Revival,
Air/My Purest Heart for You, consists of the movie
The End of Evangelion.
The End of Evangelion is essentially an alternate ending, not a remake of the final two episodes of the television series, and is a reaction to the fan response.
