Richard Diamond, Private Detective

Richard Diamond, Private Detective was a television show 1957 to 1960 starring David Janssen. Diamond was a hard-boiled private detective in the tradition of film noir. His secretary, named "Sam", was shown only from the waist down on camera to display her beautiful legs. It was later learned that the legs displayed were those of Mary Tyler Moore, among other actresses. Original Music by Frank De Vol (theme 1st & 2nd season) Pete Rugolo also theme 3rd season) Richard Shores theme 4th season) It was also the name of a radio show, starring Dick Powell. The title character was a rather light-hearted detective who often ended the episodes singing to his girlfriend, Helen. The television series was produced by Powell's company, Four Star Television.
