Scream if You Wanna Go Faster is the second solo
album by
British pop–
soft rock singer
Geri Halliwell. It was released by on
May 21 2001 and was yielded by the UK number-one single "
It's Raining Men". Although it was not as successful as her debut album
Schizophonic, it reached a peak position of number five on the UK albums chart with first-week sales of 35,000 copies and a total of 145,000. in
Mexico the album reached #7 on the Album Charts, and went
Gold selling over 50,000 copies.
Halliwell described the album as "bright and colourful";
[Stevenson, Jane. "Halliwell unfazed by good, and bad, publicity". Canadian Jam Canoe. Retrieved April 16 2006.] despite the poor sales in the UK (ensuring Gold status only) the album went on to sell 1.7 million copies Worldwide.
Scream if You Wanna Go Faster includes a
cover version of the
Weather Girls "It's Raining Men" (1983) and a continuation of the message Halliwell encouraged when she had been a part of the
Spice Girls, "
Girl Power", is featured on the song "Strength of a Woman". The album frequently moves away from Halliwell's pop origins as she had begun composing more
ballads such as "
Calling" and "Circles Around the Moon". Said Halliwell about
Scream if You Wanna Go Faster, "There's deeper meaning underneath if you care and chose to look. Some of it is deep as puddle, some of it is a bottomless pit, like a well."
