Seaforth, Merseyside

Seaforth is a district in Sefton, Merseyside, North West England. It is between Litherland and the Mersey. It is mainly an area of Victorian terraced housing, with the riverside occupied by Seaforth Dock.

It is seen as the limbo between Crosby and Bootle by residents.

Place-name meaning

Seaforth comes from Old Norse sæ-fjord "sea inlet". It was recorded as Safforde in 1128, suggesting Old Englishsæ-ford "sea ford".

Transport

Seaforth is served by Seaforth and Litherland railway station on the Liverpool to Southport line. The A565 road is the main road.
