Nebraska,
United States. As of the
2000 census, the village had a total
population of 1,140. It is located west of
Grand Island along both the
Union Pacific Railroad and
U.S. Highway 30.
Shelton is located at (40.777487, -98.733282).
According to the
United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.9
km² (0.7
mi²), all land.
As of the
census of 2000, there were 1,140 people, 425 households, and 308 families residing in the village. The
population density was 603.0/km² (1,551.5/mi²). There were 460 housing units at an average density of 243.3/km² (626.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 87.98%

Native American, 10.18% from
other races, and 0.79% from two or more races.
Hispanic or
Latino of any race were 16.67% of the population.
There were 425 households out of which 38.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.9% were
married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.3% were non-families. 24.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.18.
In the village the population was spread out with 31.4% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.3 males.
