Sissi (born
October 13 1975) is a
Cuban
model.
Born
Isabel Fleitas in
Havana,
Cuba, Sissi graduated from Antonio Guiteras High School, in Havana's El Vedado sector. She traveled first to
Mexico, where she worked as a model, but could not earn money as a model there because she had no legal citizenship in Mexico. She survived by selling
lingerie before moving to
Germany, where she had her first economic success as a model.
Sissi came to the attention of
Latino audiences in the
United States by starring in
Univision's popular show
Sábado Gigante every Saturday night, alongside
Don Francisco. On
May 28 2005 she officially retired from
Sábado Gigante, and began her career in
music by presenting a musical segment during the broadcast, and discussing her first
CD.
She made a
music video with
Daddy Yankee in 2005:
Older Than Me. The video led to public doubts about her age. She submitted to a
polygraph test on
July 27 on the
El Gordo y la Flaca television show, where she declared she was born in 1975, but the test indicated that she lied.
Sissi has also produced
bikini calendars.
