Small Isles

The Small Isles are a small archipelago in the Inner Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland. The islands lie south of Skye and north of Mull.

They are part of Lochaber, in the Highland council area, and have history as part of the counties of Argyll, until 1891, and Inverness-shire, 1891 to 1975.

The largest of the Small Isles is Rùm, with an area of 105 km². The other three main islands are Eigg, Muck and Canna.

Smaller islands surrounding the main four include:
*Sanday, near Canna
*Eilean Chathastail, near Eigg and
*Eilean nan Each (Horse Island), near north coast of of MuckThere are also a number of skerries:
*Hyskeir,
*Garbh Sgeir,
*Eagamol, near Eilean nan Each
*Humla, and
*two places called Dubh Sgeir
