Snorunt
fictional species of Pokémon from the
Pokémon franchise. It was introduced in the
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire video games.
The name,
Snorunt, appears to be a combination of
snow and
runt, a term for a small animal, particularly the smallest in a litter.
Snorunt live in icy dark caves and enjoys crying out to hear its own echo. It eats only snow and ice. Old folklore claims that a house visited by Snorunt is sure to prosper for many generations to come. It generally moves in groups of five Snorunt, and they hide away during the hot seasons of Summer and Spring. Snorunt and its evolved form Glalie are the only pure Ice type Pokémon in the first three generations, as well as the legendary Pokémon, Regice.
Snorunt appears to wear a fur coat of sorts, with two visible hands clenching it tight. Its cry sounds like a "Brrr..."
Wild Snorunt can only be found in the Shoal Cave (In the ice room), which is only accessible at Low tide, (from 3pm until 9pm, and from 3am until 9am.) They will appear along with Zubat and Spheal. In
Pokémon XD a female
Cipher Peon had one to snag.
In the Video game series, Snorunt learns Powder Snow and Leer from Birth, Double Team at level 7, Bite at level 10, Icy Wind at level 16, at level 19: Headbutt, Protect at level 25, Crunch at level 28, Ice Beam at 34, at level 37: Hail and finally Blizzard at level 43. Its only ability, Inner Focus, prevents fliching.
Snorunt, like most ice pokémon, is weak against fighting, fire, rock and steel attacks but strong against dragon, grass, flying and ground type pokémon and resistant to other ice type attacks.

Ash's Snorunt with Max and Ralts |
In the
Pokémon anime, Snorunt is
Ash Ketchum's 5th
Hoenn Pokémon. It has a powerful
Ice Beam, though it was hindered by its bad aim. Because of this, Ash constantly trains it until it evolves into
Glalie in Rhapsody in Drew. Snorunt first appeared in Pokémon: Advanced Battle Episode,
Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snorunt. On their way to
Serrosey Town and the ferry to
Sootopolis City, Ash and friends stop at a
Pokémon Center to stay warm as a
blizzard approaches. At the Center, a mischievous Snorunt steals all 7 of Ash's badges. Ash chases it into the blizzard, and the two become trapped in an avalanche, finding shelter in a small cave. Snorunt produces an apple for Ash to eat, then steals his hat and runs back into the blizzard. But Snorunt takes the hat back to Ash's friends to let them know he is safe. When Ash returns, Snorunt has grown fond of him, and wants to battle. When Ash defeats it, he catches it. Later when Ash and his friends showed Snorunt to their other
Pokémon Ash's
Corphish got frozen by Snorunt's ice beam. In episode 386,
Do I hear a Ralts, Snorunt helps Max get Ralts to the Pokemon Center. Pretty soon after that Snorunt evolved into
Glalie.
